Subject: My preferences in a playlist

I prefer I wide playlist. For example, I listen to Sounds of the Sixties with Brian Matthew on BBC2 where I hear a lot of British artists who were popular in the UK who had margin hits in the USA. I do aunderstand the point of view of radio programmers who are trying to appeal to a large audience. They are afraid that if a listener hears something unfamiliar, he will turn off the radio or turn to another station. Back in the 1960s WABC was programmed with the assumption that people listened for short periods of time and wanted to hear a familiar hit. Joe McCoy knew that New York oldies listeners really knew their music and wanted to hear deep cuts. I really liked the Hall of Fame Showa and the Top 20 countdown where unfmailiar songs were heard
