Well, Macy's didn't want that audience. They bailed out, taking millions away. The number of spots you hear isn't necessarily indicative of a station's success. Sometimes stations lure advertisers by promising a huge amount of spots for a set amount. CBS-FM was headed in the wrong direction with advertising revenue.

---This is simply industry doubletalk! If you're 16th you are not bringing in the audience. I'm a business owner and I won't put my money into ads on a 16th ranked station.---

You simply don't understand the radio business. The ratings mean nothing by themselves. They're a measurement that stations use to demonstrate their audience to advertisers. The total numbers don't matter as much because most advertisers are targeting a specific demographic.

WFAN is among the top 10 billing stations in the NATION, yet rarely if ever cracks the top 10 in NYC's overall ratings. They're No. 16 in the latest ratings (12 plus) and have been as low as No. 19. Yet they still generate revenue better than just about any other station in NY.

Why do you think there's no country music station in NY and no standards station? Those formats would draw listeners, but they wouldn't be in the demographics that advertisers want. It's all about WHO is listening for the advertisers.
