I am not giving Joe a pass. I agree with you on firing Max Kinkel and that was wrong. Joe did not like Max. I loved the reunion weekends and the special shows. The playlist was not changed that much before Jammin Oldies. But remember 2 things, although Joe was the program director, he was given orders by the people upstairs at infinity to make the station younger. I heard this from people. After CBS-FM dropped the DOO WOP SHOP and 50's music he was able to convince the upper management to put on The Hall of Fame show with 50's music with Norm N. Nite on Sunday Nights. Shortly after that show went on the air in 2003, Joe was fired and Dave Logan became Program Director. This is when the real Damage was done to CBS-FM including cutting down of the playlist, the hiring of Mickey Dolenz, Dan Ingram being cut down to one day a week and being forced to leave the station and eventually dropping Oldies all together on June 3rd. Everybody was at fault in a way but the real damage was done by the upper management of Infinity. Remember a program director has a boss and he has to do what his boss says. When CBS-FM dropped Oldies, the program Director did not even know about it until an hour before like the Jocks. Except for the firing of Max Kinkel which was wrong, I blame the demise of CBS-FM on the bosses of Infinity.
