you're right Sue! The Rock Pile was the first automated playlist, In 1973/74 it was WNBC-FM 97.1 mhz,then it went to a Music for Women only format, then the call letters were changed to WNWS in 1976/77 NY's FM News format (Didnt last long). in 1978 NBC went to adult comtmporary as "97 WYNY.NBC really didnt know what to do with their FM outlet in NYC.
