I disagree with you entirely. They lost me as a fulltime listener when they took 50's music out of the regular rotation. If you are a Dan Ingram fan, you never get tired of the same old lines. He was a lot funnier than some of the clowns you have working in radio today. As far as demo's go, If they played 3 50's songs an hour mixed in with the stuff you are talking about, you would have kept the old CBS-FM listeners happy.
