A big THANKS to Raeline O'Neil for coordinating our participation in the holiday parade today in Dover...it was so much fun in the light snow! Great job dancers, and thanks to the parent volunteers for helping collect toys, throw out candy, etc. And another big thank you to Raeline and Jim and the O'Neil girls for including the Murray dance families in their annual holiday party at their home after the parade. You all are the BEST hosts!!

I will be accepting delivery of the wreaths tomorrow. One of our parents has kindly offered to let us store them in her garage until we have a main pick up day. This time of year I work full time so I really need someone to arrange the transfer of wreaths to the studio and arrange a pick up day. Last year we arranged a bunch of parents with big cars to pick them up early Saturday morning. BUT the sooner we clear out the garage the better. I don't have a set time for delivery. It HAS to be morning because I work at 1:00. I'm hoping 9:00 or 10:00. Please post here if you will be able to pick up your wreath after the Dover Parade. I know some of you will be seeing family. If you want your wreath WEdnesday morning AND you can be flexible about the time please post here. I can't promise but I'll do my best to meet you for pick up. We are having computer problems so the best thing is to post here. Happy Thanksgiving

The U12 team would like to give Anne a BIG thank you for her dedication to each and every dancer and the countless hours preparing the girls for the Oireachtas. They had so much fun all weekend and were absolutely awesome on that stage!!!!!. What a wonderful group of girls and parents as well!

The overall results this past weekend shows everyone's hard work. Whether you placed or not ALL the girls are winners and should feel very proud of their accomplishments!

Also, a thank you goes to all the girls who have helped Anne during classes preparing for the Oireachtas. Another set of eyes and feedback to the girls were always so helpful to improve their dancing.
Another thank you goes out to all the older dancers(you all know who you are and Kathleen G.) who helped the U12 team with getting ready with their wigs and crowns etc...

The Lawson family moved from Maryland 2 years ago, and are so fortunate that we found Murray Dance Academy. What a great feeling to be part of this dance school. It has the BEST teacher, is full of wonderful families and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else!!

Subject: What would we do without our older dancers? A big thanks for everyone for all their help this weekend - from the second I arrived and Kim Carney and Cara helped get the u8 wigs on, Ceara warmed them up and JeanMarie was their personal escort and coach. And then thanks to MaryKate and Colleen and others helping us with makeup for the u9 team. And then Molly helping get Violet from one group on stage to the next in that huge crowd. Thanks a million! And of course thanks to Anne for all the fabulous prep and organization.

The U9's did an awesome job this weekend. We had both U9 four hand teams place - I think 9th and 19th!! And the U9 mixed received 2nd place. The kids were all amazing and we are so proud to be a part of such a wonderful group and school. Our thanks also for the loving care and help the senior girls gave with wigs, make-up, practice and pep talks. Our love to you all. Also a big hand to Steve Varga - team dad - for help with the boys' ties and other transportation and sherpa duties :)

Hello Iris
I would just like to inform you of the passing of one of our young dancers.
Lisa Palermo is a 15 year old that was fighting Cystic Fibrosis all her life and her
battle ended this morning.
We are very saddened by this and our hearts ache for the family as this is the 2nd child they've in just over a year to Cystic Fibrosis.
Our thought and prayers are extended to her parents Maureen and Chuck and her only surviving sibling
Mark Palermo.
Lisa was due to compete in the Traditional set competition at the 2008 Oireachtas. She was not able to come to class to learn the Blackbird, but she was watching it on the computer (U and learning to dance it with her hands while she was hospitalized.

We will miss her enthusiasm and drive.

Thank you for your support

The festival was wonderful!! From the weather to the grounds to the entertainment to all the Murray families---what a great group of people! Thanks to all the parents who supported their children in participating at our largest event of the year...and thanks to the dancers who all did a fantastic job of dancing (and preparing)! Thanks to the many parents who volunteered and in many cases went above and beyond to make the day memorable for our children. Thanks to Kathleen, Carol and Katie for the emcee work and helping keep the dance shows moving. And the biggest thanks of all to Sandy and Raeline--as Kathleen said below, it's hard to come up with a good enough way or words to express our appreciation at your countless hours of work, to make this the best event possible. THANK YOU!!

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers at our first Festival! We think all of our Murray families enjoyed the gorgeous day! It is always a treat for those of us who have been around for awhile to see all of the beginner dancers coming up thru the ranks! I loved watching all of the little ones! And unfortunately - there are not enough ways to say thank you to Sandy and Raeline for the terrific job they did - without their dedication and months of hard work - we would not have been able to have a Festival. So - to paraphrase Shakespeare - "I can no other answer make but thanks, and thanks and thanks again!"

Erik's niece has a best friend, Ashley. She was supposed to start second grade. After fainting at home they diagnosed a heart problem but during a procedure she had complications in her leg. they were discussing amputation, but the best scenario involved several (ten)
surgeries to graft muscle to her leg. More muscle needed to be removed today.Still not sure about heart condition. It is obviously a very scary and difficult time for her family (little sister hasn't seen mom dad in several days) Please pray for Ashley and her family

Just want to let everyone know that while the message recently posted indicates a 2 hour block for a free ticket, it is actually a 3 hour block of time which volunteers work, admittance is free. We are still looking for additional help and any amount of time which you are able to provide, would be greatly appreciated.

Our Irish Festival is almost here - let's all keep our fingers crossed for good weather! We are still in need of volunteers for some of the areas - sign up for a 2 hour block and you get a free ticket! We will be selling advance tickets at the studio this week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. It would help a lot if we had some advance sales from Murray families as we know we will all be there sometime during the day! So let's all pitch in and support our dancers who have worked so hard all year! (And don't forget to bring your donation for the Food Bank with you to the Festival! Everyone who brings a donation will be entered in a raffle!!) Thanks in advance for all of your support!

HI everyone,
Unfortunately, our performance this evening is cancelled! At least the kids will still have our festival they can dance at in the near future! Our contact is very disappointed as they were really looking forward to our wonderful dancing along with our friends, Celtic Tribe, who were going to be sharing their great music and accompanying us during some of our numbers as well. She says she wants to try to get us on the MAIN stage next year, as she really thinks we would be a good draw! We'll see!

Anyway, thanks for your patience with the process, and I will see a number of you at the Maine State Feis (maybe the dancers could use the extra time today to practice!!) :)

There is still no final decision about the fair tonight---all has been cancelled up to 3 today, but they are going ahead with the 3:00 show. My contact and I are supposed to talk again in a few hours. I have told her that the kids would be disappointed not to dance, but I am concerned about the wetness of the grounds (as it relates to expensive dance shoes) even if it's not raining. She says it is very wet there, but the sun has been out for the last hour....so we will see what the next few hours brings. Feel free to provide feedback here on the board about what you think we should do (we have the option of cancelling ourselves, regardless of what the fair people say) and I will update the board as much as I can.
