Subject: What did you think of the initial relationship between Artie and Ash? Was it sweet? Doomed from the start? Could've been the greatest love in the world?

I thought the early stages of their relationship were some of the sweetest scenes ever. There were a few times that I thought, even knowing what was coming, being forewarned,I still thought, 'This can't be right, things will work out for these two.' I do feel that there were just a few glimpses of genuine caring, something that could have been a great, enduring love,so powerful, but was snuffed out by selfish cowardice.

The exact chapters escape me,but it was after they'd been together a few times, just some of the dialogue. Before she let her fear of discovery cloud every moment she was with him, before she let it affect everything.Like I said, there were a VERY few moments *G*

But they were there,to me at least. I didn't imagine it,and I think that is part of why I felt so shell-shocked when she stood there while he died/got castrated.I guess it made me feel her betrayal all the more keenly, since I saw this chance they had, just briefly. How does the saying go,'The brightest flame burns quickest'.

I meant to put this in with your Artie redemption question,Beth, but the words wouldn't come until now,LOL.

[> I agree, Bo. There were moments between them where she seemed to really love him and I thought that while she wasn't his HEA, she would want what was best for him, maybe even help him. But I think the telling scene was before his castration, where as he begged to die, she just kept saying, 'I'll fix it''. I realized then she had no empathy whatsoever -- Beth, 22:34:28 09/01/08 Mon [1]

[> [> You are both SO RIGHT!!! That Bitch had no empathy at ALL!! I cried when he was begging her to help him & she wouldn't... The one thing that really ticked me off is that being history is what it is, there is NO way to give her what she deserves.. TOTAL expose her & have her feel the same things he felt!!! Only that would make me happy for her!! -- LindaWĢinda, 12:24:18 09/09/08 Tue [1]
