This post appeared on the fake Reach Have Postcard site, but, nevertheless, it is an excellent post. I include it here for your consideration:
Instead of all this bantering back and forth, maybe you could just tell us, straight out, why you despise DF fans so much. No need to use names or extraneous details. Just say it as clear and to the point as possible. No old posts or old chats rambling on about he said/she said. Just tell us how you were hurt by fans, and why you became so soured on DF. And what, if anything, do you wish would happen in order for you to feel that justice has been done? I think you really want and need people to know and understand. I’m not being sarcastic.
I said before that whoever is posting all the rude things about people, is doing it for their own amusement, but truthfully I think that’s only a part of it. To do these things, I think that a person would have to feel that they’ve been horribly deceived and hurt by someone else.
I don’t have any doubt that something happened, a long time ago, amongst a group of people who posted on the boards. It was not something good, obviously, and the fallout has been tremendous. Anyone who has been around the boards for awhile has read about it at one time or another. It’s hard to miss. We all get the gist of it. We all know the names of those who were said to be involved, either as perpetrators or victims. I think most everyone would agree that it should never have happened, but the backlash from it seems way out of proportion. That’s my feeling about it. Obviously, there are some who feel differently. But I don’t know how you could seriously believe that everyone who posts on the boards to this day, are the people who did you wrong. Continually bringing every fan into it, and accusing them of wrongdoing, is unjustified. It’s no better than what was done to you. And how can you believe that those who deceived you, are the only people who have ever read or posted on the boards in all these years? You must realize that some of the people you have slandered, have nothing to do with what was done to do.
How can anyone truly believe that every fan on the boards is one of the evil ones from the past who conspired to deceive others. There’s been so much written about this, and from so many different perspectives, it will never be clear who is to blame for any of it. I’ve seen posts about it for the past 8 years, but I think it started a year or so before that. That’s a long time. Most things don’t stay the same for that long. Things change, and not everyone is evil. What’s happening though, is that someone, I don’t know who, but someone or some few people, want everyone else to feel what they have felt. All of their good feelings they had about being a fan of Dan’s, must have been destroyed. The things I’ve seen written have not only been disparaging about fans, but also about Dan and his wives. It can only be characterized as hatred of everything connected to Dan. And someone wants everyone else to feel that same hatred. I’m sure most every fan who has read anything about this mess, has been soured to some degree in regard to being a fan. Isn’t that enough? Does that make anything better?
No matter what anyone writes, it’s practically impossible for anyone to really know what is true and what is not. Even my own post here, obviously, is something that everyone else can only make guesses about, based on what each person has observed and understood for themselves. It’s a cyber world, and there’s nothing we can do to make anything more believable. No doubt everyone has their own theories and things that they believe, but in the cyber world there are no absolutes. Obviously there are people who know more about what happened than others, but honestly, the only truths that anyone can know is what they themselves did or did not do, or what they saw someone else do in the real-life world. Everything else is a guess.
As I see it, the reason that all this continues, is that there is a feeling that no one was ever punished for what they did. Someone or some people did some very mean things to other people, and they never had to answer for it, and they never admitted what they’d done, or why. And so the hatred and the damage continues and spreads. You may never see the people who wronged you get the punishment that you feel they deserve. I believe, though, that the mean things people do, come back to them. They will get what they deserve. But that goes for all of us. The mean things that you do to innocent people, in trying to seek justice for yourself, will come back to you also.
