Subject: Ok I think I may have fucked things up royally here

My Dad needs me, he's not very well, unfortunatly I promised my latest squeeze I would definitely join him tonight for dinner with some of his family, this is our second attempt at this, it fell through last time because I had to work overtime and couldn't make it, now he's saying I don't really care about him.

I'm so upset, I really like him but what does he expect me to do?

sorry, I know you can't do anything about it, I just needed to rant a little, I'm piggy in the middle as usual, my kids are now upset because they think their Grandad doesn't trust them to look after him properly.

If this is the kind of guy who you're going to stay with for a long time, he'll be the kind of guy who'll understand that some things can't be helped, and know that of course your first priority right now has to be your Dad.

If he doesn't understand, then it's his loss.

Sorry, I know that sounds really harsh! But it's not like you didn't have a damn good reason on both occasions to cancel. I'd be on his side a bit more if you just couldn't be arsed to go out!

*hugs*

Hope your Dad's alright.

I know you're right on every count I'm just so conflicted, I thought he would be more understanding. I can't just abandon my Dad when he's like this, he's starting to be very forgetful and confused, not all the time, most of the time he's fine but its a bad day today so he takes priority every time as far as I'm concerned.

Nice to hear from you, thanks for your thoughts and input, how are you doing?

Just chilling out alone this weekend, Richard is off visiting family. Getting ready for our holiday (off to Portugal with my side of the family in a weeks time). Should be good!

However I suggest you make it up to him via lingerie, champagne and strawberries.

In fact I think that reply was mean. I'm thinking you need to make it up to me ...

There's this guy, L., we've studied together for two semesters now and never really got to know each other till about a month ago. We went out on this Wednesday and it was fun and we got friendly but I just get the general impression that he's looking for something serious (which is a nice change from doctors just trying to get into my pants) but I'm not sure I want that with L. I like him a lot and there are some butterflies but it feels like the real spark is missing. Sigh!

you have to make it happen y'know? if you have butterflies that's a good sign surely?

I love the butterflies in the tummy feeling :-)

I'm not as dead gone on him as I've been for other guys and I don't want to start something up on just lukewarm sentiment. Besides, he sort of reminds me of my ex and I don't want that kind of relationship again.

Yeah, the butterflies are fun but maybe I've just got them for their own sake and not because of L, you know? Either way it's fun so I'm not sure I can stay away from L but I don't want to string him along.

...On the day I suss out what I want, there'll be a parade. With trombones! ;-)
