I'm a contractor, not an employee. Which means I'm paid a lot more, but any shit that happens like this is my problem not theirs. Although it turns out that there is a spare iMac in the office that I can use while my machine is being repaired. It's going to take them five days just to tell me what is wrong and how much it will cost to fix it, and God knows how much longer before I get it back.

Trouble is that it is also my personal entertainment system -- it is my Hi-Fi, my DVD player and my TV. Man, I'm going to have to watch French TV, a fate worse than death.
