(He had stiffened a bit at her touch, still not completly comfortable grieving in front of someone, let alone someone whose opinion of him mattered the most. Sighing, he went to answer her but was saved from worrying about his voice cracking by the arrival of his sleepy and sick son. He took a slow and deep breath to cover the fact that he had been on the verge of tears and when he was stable realized that Gav had walked over to hug him and looked over at Nellie as he knelt a bit to pick his son up.) Och.. yer turnin green lad.. (He said with a softly teasing voice that he often used to soothe the boy when he was upset, and he got a very adult expresion of exasperation from Gav as the boy shook his head and denied it.) Yer mam's right, go see what cook can get for ye and we'll be up to tuck ye in in a wee bit. (He said and let the boy down, kissing the top of his head before shooing him off and rising to his height again. He shoved his hands into his pockets then and let out a sigh as he looked down at the fire in the hearth near them.) I never grieved because I had more important things to tend to. (He said in a measure tone, speaking of his son and his relationship with her.)
