(His eyes followed the girl as she appeared in the room, noting first that she was wearing his partner's clothing and then that she looked so obviously mused that it was impossible for anyone, let alone him, to miss. It was apparent that she had decided that she didn't mind if they all knew that she had been properly bedded, but he wondered if she knew that his partner had never had a girl in a hotel room with him for more than a few hours at most. He couldn't recall ever meeting one of Kyrian's girls outside of a public place, and they never had a name.. this was just so odd. He was analyzing all of it without being obvious and wondering what Kyrian was getting himself into.. becuase the other man didn't seem to have a clue that he was sinking into something. His eyes shifted to Kyrian and he almost smiled at the way the man was eyeing Shay like she was talking through her forehead instead of her pretty mouth.. Kyrian had a pretty healthy fear of romance, of the weakness it could instill in a man. Either his partner had no idea he was falling in love, since it was written pretty easily in the man's eyes when he looked over at Haylie, or he had decided that his intuitions were wrong where romance was concerned.. things were taking a pretty decent u-turn where both of them were concerned.)

(He arched a brow as he watched Shay, not realizing that Haylie had slipped away from him as she confirmed his suspicions.. he hadn't been ready to accept the fact that his partner was getting married.. it was just too close to home to be comfortable for him. Clearing his throat in a slightly nervous manner, he switched to his other foot and ran a hand over the days growth of stubble on his cheeks.) Are you sure this is what you want? (He pointed at Remy and then let out a breath when the younger man nodded at him.) I mean, it just seems sudden, and Ash will flip out.. have you really thought this through? (It just wouldn't work out if his partner was married.. there would be weakness in him and he would be worried about her all the time.. he would quit the force when the kids came along.. oh, God.. he would quit!) What if someone comes after her? Have you thought about that? There are a lot of people who want you dead, McLean.
