 Although well thought out and articulated, your response is not necessarily true. For a statement to truly be racist it needs to be stated with intent. Without knowing Obama's intention with regard to the meaning of his statement it's not known whether the statement "typical white person" is racist or not. It's just my opinion, but I believe the argument would be stronger if you were to say the statement was prejudice.

Let's face it, know matter who we're talking about in politics, trivial matters can and will be uncovered. If an individual is not liked for whatever reason, than you're going to believe what you're going to believe. If Obama were truly a racist he would not be in the position he's in today.
