Subject: What's the hype about swimsuit?

I don't understand why everyone is so hyped about swimsuit. Yes the young ones wear the two piece suit because face it young ones have the body. The older ones may have a body too but the body looks very different because age and several kids does make body parts expand or drop. You know who's idea was it to even give the option of wearing a two piece at state if they don't wear them for competition at nationals? I just don't get it. I personally think it is out of character for a married woman to wear a two piece for competition. There is a time and place for that and the stage is not the time. Physical fitness is not about being skinny. It's about being able to be active without effort. Think of this: My husband is 42 and has a beer belly but he can kick butt and beat a 22 year old skinny fellow in a mile run. Now I call that physically fit--being able to handle activities while carrying your weight. So that is my opinion on the SS thing. What's yours?

Yes probably a 22 year old in a bikini who obviously has had no kids and married under a year. Just because she competes in a Mrs competition doesn't mean she is truly a Mrs. She should be competing against women her own age and let the true Mrs (older women) compete against their peers then each could have their own swimsuit competition and be judged fairly on their level of fitness against women in their own age appropriate catergory. It is so unfair for a 20 year old to compete against a 40 year old. Marriage alone does not qualify a woman for a Mrs competition so directors should have an age limit and requirement of years being married to avoid having 20 and 40 year olds competing together. These comments have been brought to you by a Mrs husband

Then compete in a compitition with rules like that. Beauties of America, or United States. To ask them pageant to change the rules is silly. It is like if I as a married woman wanted to compete in Miss USA. Go to the pageant that caters to your group.

It seems as though these women are always looking for the "easy button". Its not easy ladies! There are women in thier 40's and 50's who have the bodies of those 20-somethings. The difference is they work at it!

The duties of a title holder can be very physically and mentally taxing. The judges are going to want someone who has an obvious commitment to physical fitness. Its not just about the body. A fit body is also an indicator of a fit mind!

some have age limits of 30, and others 18, and still other 21. But all indicate that the only real qualification is that you are married and living with your husband. If you don't want to compete with a 20 year old in swim suit (which, I really would rather not) don't compete in the pageants that have age restictions of 20 and up. Or try a "Mrs. Woman" division...

You are going to have a discrepancy about age in any division. For instance, in the Miss division I have seen 16 year olds competing against 23 year olds, one does not even have a license and the other one is graduating from college. In the same baby division you will have one child walking and the other one being carried by its mother. When competing for a pageant you have to realize it’s not about your competition, it’s about yourself. If your 40 year old wife worries about herself and does everything in her power to be the best she can possibly be, then she should have no problem. Tell her to get her ducks in a row and kick ass because I am sure the 20 year who deserves her title as a Mrs. as well is doing the same thing.

through which the judges would be able to see if you are "able to handle activities while carrying your own weight". If that is what you are looking for there are "fitness" competitions you could compete in that have areas of competition of that sort. While I agree that skinny does not equal fit, swimsuit competition is the most fair way to judge an individuals commitment to physical fitness on stage, short of hooking everyone up to a heart monitor.

[> How often will the Mrs. Louisiana be seen in a SS! c/i -- Anonymous, 07:21:08 05/15/06 Mon [1]

I think the SS plays a small role in this title. I would rather see someone who is confident, with a postive attitude and a willingness to travel and promote this title, then some skinny barbie looking woman. Yes, being fit is important.. but let's face it most married women do not have alot of spare time to get a hard body! I have a fitness instructor that has cellulite, some women can't help it, no matter how hard they work. This title is about believing in yourself, no matter what the other women look like!
