[> Checking in -- Jenn, 15:29:45 09/05/10 Sun [1] (pool-71-170-235-80.dllstx.fios.verizon.net/71.170.235.80)

Thanks so much for asking and your continued thoughts and prayers.
He has a long road ahead of him but we are hopeful for recovery. As of his initial assessment by the physical therapist, their goal is for him to leave in 3 weeks with the ability to walk 150 feet with a quad cane, and be able to dress himself.

He and Mom are going to stay with us initially as our house has the master suite downstairs. We have a walk in shower with a built-in seat, which will be perfect for him until they can make better permanent plans for their own home. Looking forward to having him here with us for awhile.

He still can barely move his left arm, hand and leg, but we have hope.
Thanks again, everyone. You all mean a lot to me.

[> [> Gosh thanks for letting us know, Jenn -- doni, 16:53:20 09/05/10 Sun [1] (adsl-66-143-166-122.dsl.austtx.swbell.net/66.143.166.122)

I've been so worried...Not that he would get worse, I know he is in capable hands, and has all his family to make sure nothing is missed...I just wanted to know what the prognosis is, and I like this prognosis. Being around all his loved ones is sure to speed things up, as you guys are no way going to let him slide on doing his PT!

When my mom had surgery in the very early 80's, they removed much of her arm muscle. I remember feeling much the same way ... She could barely lift it, how was she going to get full use back?

Well she has full use back, and has had since I'd say a good maybe 3 mos?? I remember though she'd much rather have skipped squeezing that darn ball, or having one of us try and scooch her arm just a little higher each day.

You already knew you picked a winner with Marty, but can I just say, what a sweetheart to stand with you. :)

It will be the only way he will get any of his mobility back!!!
Hoping for the best!! Continued PPT's!
