As for your crackling sound to your neck, I cannot comment as to what the exact cause is (can't make WWW diagnosis either) but I can assure you that as long as you are "< 40 years old"the crackling noise is usually nothing but innocent sound when your joints move over joint spaces. Over the day you make millions upon millions of crackling noises but most of them (I bet 99.99%) you either don't feel or hear them. As you age, however, osteoarthritis between cervical vertebra becomes more and more likely (a common "aging" process) so to ascertain finding you will need to do MRI/Spiral CT, which, if not urgent, you have to foot the bill yourself, which could be costly. :P
