Kelly, you are correct with your accessment of the speeding problems off and around Mammoth Road. Marsh Hill has been worse than ever with cars peeling out drag racing, etc. However, I'm getting tired of hearing "What more can the police do". It's very discouraging. Just open the Lowell Sun on any given day, or watch your local news stations and the reality of what speed can do is right their in black and white! Speed kills. It can kill the innocent, the children, the passengers, or some other unfortunate person. This isn't a personal attack on your specific comments. You've only stated what everyone else does, when they begin to feel hopeless about the situation. I can only make myself clear when I say, nothing will ever get better with the speeding issues in Dracut if no one takes a stand. Two or three people in town complaining does very little compared to the other 25,000 or so residents saying nothing. It will be a devestating reality that it will probably take the loss of a life for this issue to pick up steam. I believe this town should be proactive with it's approach to the safety of the roads and pedestrians. Just to add a face to that reality, several years ago several of our neighborhood children were hit by a car exceeding the speed limit on Arlington Street. How lucky they were that they all lived. One a personal neighbor only had to suffer that torment to this day. As a young man, he finally resolved to having his leg amputated, as after the car accident his leg never was right again. Endless surgeries became the vein of his existence.
