Hello Shawn,
This is a new topic on this forum, however it is not new to the town.I believe that Selectman O'loughlin has raised this for discussion. As you know we do not have the luxury of a good network of sidewalks in Dracut.Even if we did you might agree that sidewalks are not the best place for skateboards. We as a town are in the process of re-defining our park and recreation spaces.I know that the board of selectman are more than happy to accomodate this type of activity as it has grown in popularity. You must also be aware that the board also has to balance this activity with the needs of individual neighborhoods. We spend our tax dollars here in Dracut in a frugal manner and I'm sure you would'nt want to see money spent and have it vandalized either.(it happened in Chelmsford)A couple of suggestions, First, you will find any selectman more than willing to listen to your input.Second, both the Rec. Dept. and the Veteran's Park committee are comprised of volunteers who are always willing to listen to input. Our elected officials and volunteers spend many hours trying to enhance our town. Contact them, you might be surprised that something well planned and thought out such as this just might fit into a planned recreation facility.Sound planning benefits all citizens.Good luck in your endeavor. Mike Maguire
