The water conservation requirements have been advertised in the Lowell Sun, it has been addressed at the DWSD annual meeting and at the Dracut annual town meeting. It is also posted on the Dracut access channels 8 and 10. The requirements are: if your house number is an odd number you water on the odd day of the week, if your house number is an even number you water on the even number of the week. The time is from 8PM to 8AM. The water conservation is for DWSD and the Kenwood water district.

The policy for addressing violations is to issue a written warning, if you are observed watering during the day, or watering on your off day, you are issued a written warning. This warning is in the form of a card given to you, or is placed on your door notifying you that you are in violation of the water conservation program. The card is in two ctions, one is given to you and the other returned to the District and placed on file. If you continue to violate the water conservation program you are fined $100 and it can go up to $400 for consecutive violations.

So far we have issued over 200 warnings and collected close to $1000. The DWSD and the Kenwood District understands that some of you may not have heard about the water conservation in Dracut. This is why the first offense is a warning. One thing to remember, some homes are utilizing their own wells.
If you are concerned about seeing people violating the water conservation why not give us a call, no need to tell us your name. The staff at DWSD is presently working on the new treatment facility, and getting some old work done. They can use some help in monitoring the conservation program. I'm' sure you understand that no one can monitor the town 100% of the time.

DWSD Commissioner
