This town will continue to grow and unless we start looking at the "Big Picture" , we will continue to have problems. Communication is the key!
First, the New Central Fire Station is needed and is an important part of the Big Picture (PS I'm tired of people dumping on the fire fighters and fire department, you wouldn't find a better group of dedicated and hard working citizens).
Secondly, why was the park build there in the first place? If we knew the new fire house was needed there, that park should have been built on the Greemont Ave School property, where it could have been maintained by the school department or not at all.
That being said, Veterans Memorial Park will fill the void and could be a key component in the "Big Picture". We still have to look at a new government center and yes library. It's still my contention that the library would still best serve the town closer to the school complex where it would be more accessable to children after school (enough said).
With the library at a different location, the town hall could be expanded into a government center utillizing the old library and still maintaining the historic integrety of the town.
Vissualizing Lakeview Ave and portions of 113 and Pleasnt Streets as "Business Districts", we could then address the traffic problems, which we all know exists.
With the passing of the CPA, we are at least moving in the right direction to shape Dracut. In order for us to make Dracut the town we all want, we must continue to control expansion to make this town more livable for all those involved (businesses, home owners, the elderly, the childern, and importantly condo owners & apartment dewelers.
