Buffy, you strike me as the type of person who has way too much time on their hands. I'll make a few final remarks on this particular topic, and if you want the last word, knock yourself out.

1) I am NOT Alan Thivierge.

2) I'm glad you're happy the incumbents won. I never said they were bad people or they didn't do a good job. I'm simply pointing out that there were some elements associated with these two individuals, which probably prompted the voters to take a stronger look at the challenger. There was only a 17.5% voter turnout at this past election, and low turnouts usually favor the incumbents. James Ace, for example, won by a rather healthy margin to get reelected as Library Trustee.

3) When the golf course abutter filed a complaint against these two incumbents, they NEVER denied that they had an association with these developers. I'm sure there was no foul play involved here, but some taxpayers might find it a little awkward to see these guys stepping off the Board everytime these developers appear on the agenda.

4) I'm fully aware that Alan was a little naive on some of the issues, in fact, if you read my first posting on this subject, I stated that. This was the first time he ever ran for public office, the guy got his nose pushed in a few times, he hung in there, and in the end, Buffy, you're right, he lost in a close one. At least, let's respect the guy for trying.

5) What gets my goat most of all, Buffy, is that May 7, 2001 is now ancient history. What happened that day, happened. When I read postings by people like you and Preston still trashing this guy after it's all over, that just makes my blood boil! Alan Thivierge was a gentleman from beginning to end, and those kind of cheap shots towards him after the fact were totally unwarranted. If he was arrogant and mouthed off to the media after the election, that'd be different, but we both know that never happened. Why not go head-hunting after Joe Adams, or Marlene Dupont, or Ron Kolek for losing in their respective races? Better yet, why don't you pull papers and throw your names on the ballot, Buffy and Preston, and find out for yourselves just what a walk in the park an election campaign is? I've been involved in a number of election campaigns myself, in various capacities, I play very hard and I always play to win. But when it's over, it's over. Let Alan Thivierge grieve his election loss in peace, let him go back to the drawing board, find out what he did wrong, and what he needs to do better the next time around.

6) Simply put, I think that kicking people when they're down just gives Dracut politics a very bad reputation. Furthermore, it's the zealots like Buffy and Preston (whoever the heck they are behind their phony internet names), who go on forums like this and keep good, honest, hardworking people from wanting to get involved in public office. Is it any wonder why voter apathy is so rampant in Dracut?
