In my opinion, there is something fundamentally wrong with
spewing tons of contaminants into our air each year in
exchange for money. The main reasons being that a plant
of this proposed size will produce tons of nitrogen oxide,
carbon monoxide,and particulate matter(soot)per year.
How can this be good for any community???Formaldehyde,
a known cancer-causing chemical is the primary hazardous
air pollutant emitted from gas fired turbines accounting
for about two thirds of all "hazardous air pollutants"
coming from gas fired electricity generating turbines.
How can breathing all that formaldehyde be good for any
town and its citizens?? Mr.Williams?

Did you know that the closer you live to a power plant
the larger the exposure to PM10 and other fallout?

Health Risks of Exposure to PM(Source:U.S.Enviornmental
Protection Agency).Batteries of scientific studies have
linked particulate matter especially fine particles to
(alone or in combination with other air pollutants),
with a series of health problems including:
.Premature Death
.Aggravated asthma
.Acute resiratory symptoms
.Chronic bronchitis
.Decreased lung function

Who is most at risk from exposure to fine particles?
.Elderly
.Individuals with preexisting heart or lung disease
.children
.asthmatics and asthmatic children

Yes I'm sure you've heard this all before and yes there
could always be something worse like a Nuclear Plant.
However, the long term effects of exposure to the above
won't surface for maybe 5,10,20 years to come. There is
no guarantee that the residents in my neighborhood and
the surrounding towns like Andover,Lawrence and Methuen
won't be harmed from long term exposure to the above.
Currently on my street alone we have two newborn children,
a 3yr old with RSV,two elderly people with breathing
disorders and 1 5yr old with bronchitis do you think
the power plant will improve thier existing health issues?
The killer coal plants you mentioned will not shut down
until they no longer can exist in the competitive market.
At this time natural gas prices are at historical highs!!
Due to the fact that energy produced from the killer coal
plants is cheaper it is very likely they will remain in
operation for a substantial amount of time, hopefully new
technology like Sconox will be forced into use for relief
purposes. I am a citizen of this town and like yourself
want what is best for the town and all people who live in
it.I have and will continue to ask questions regarding
what the costs to myself and the town will be throughout
this process. If this plant is built, what will be the costs
to the town??
Fire fighting capabilites will need to be increased,
Ironically,Dracut Fire Station number eight has been
located in close proximity with we abutters.

Training new personnel, buying specialized equipment to
fight chemical fires, ammonia leaks or gas explosions will
cost the town how much money?

How about emergency plans in place if an ammonia truck
delivery has a accident on the way to and from the site?

How about emergency plans for the site itself or the nearby
residents in the event of a disaster?

Will an evacuation plan for the Campbell School be put
into place? Will we need extra buses? Etc.Etc....

Donald Walters V.P. of Constellation Power has been
contacted by our street Rep.Celeste Larock a number
of times he has canceled a meeting he promised to attend
with us twice.I asked Donald about steam blows and he told
me these would only occur during the construction phase
of the plant.Shortly after I recieved a very scary article
from Bob Delisle of N.Smithfield that proves otherwise.
Nickel hill will be using diesel as a backup fuel,in the
begining of the process we were told that use of a backup
fuel would not be required.I hope that if the Plant is
built you will be as fervent at slicing and dicing any
misquotes or mistakes they make.
I will not allow my family to be exposed to the health and
safety risks associated with siting a power plant so close
to my home and we will be forced to move from the home and
town we love.In my opinion this plant will overshadow the
rural and historic quality of this town.UH OH I'M BEING
EMOTIONAL!!
Hope I didn't make you tired!!
P.S. I WOULD PICK A BUT IN OUR CASE WE GET
A AND B ANYWAY!!
