Hi Dennis!

I have moved from Dracut and currently live in upstate NY. I moved, not because of the proposed Nickel Hill project, but, because of the incesant self-rightous attitude that people in the eastern NE have been exihibiting in recent years. The process of permitting and siting this plant seemed to bring these people out of the woodwork! Where were/are these people when Andover and other towns have and continued to propose large industrial/business parks and residential developments. These projects on their own do not pose a "significant" risk, but, because of poor regional planning they have brought the area to it knees from an infrastructure and resource availability standpoint. Looked at "en-masse" these projects over the last 10-20 years have dwarfed any impact Nickel Hill could have!

When I was the part of the Dracut Environmental Utility Committee I lived on Brook street in the Kenwood section of Dracut. I got involved initially to ensure that the proper analyses would be conducted to ensure that any facility sited at Brox would meet all applicable standards and guidelines. I did this because I have 2 children that went to Dracut Children Center and would eventually go to Campbell School.

I felt that I would be qualified to take on this task because I am an environmental consultant specializing in air quality permitting and analysis. I have adegree in meteorology and used to work for the Massachusetts DEP as an air quality dispersion modeling reviewer. I reviewed and conducted air qualty model simulations for multiple plants like Nickel Hill, coal-fired plants and regional photo-chemical models that looked at simulating and helping develop strategies to reduce regional "smog" problems.
Even though I have given these credentials before, alot of people think they know and understand the air quality iassues related to Nickel Hill and the Merrimack Valley in general. They read a couple of articles or "scientific" papers and they are "experts" who think they know the "impact" of this proposed plant.

If anyone as any questions, feel free to leave a message on this Forum and I will try to answer any questions!

Ed :=)
