Resident in Dracut for over 25 years and then moved to Tyngsboro but my 'home' is Dracut! Technology is a funny thing. It draws us towards itself because we are wowed at its capability.

However this technology is not new and is not the best investment for Dracut. The town Selectmen are expected to manage town affairs, but I don't think we have Selectmen that are technologist. Well not all at least.

For investments like this one I would lie to see the Selectmen create a technology committee that are from the public sector that are in the field of technology and can 'educate' us on these technologies as well as what options and competitors we have to select from.

The decision to buy this system is blind! We don't know how old this technology is, who are its competitors and then what is the long term investment for upgrades and migration strategies for emerging technologies.

I would say do not go along with this purchase until all the homework has been done.

If you want to email me I am at kpappas@tyng.com

BTW. I still love Dracut over Tyngsboro!
