"The commander gave it to me a few days ago and I don't want you to hold onto it, I want you to have it. It's yours now." He tipped his head, wanting her to understand but never so good at communicating things like this because well, he never really had too. Letting out a soft breath, he leaned forward, his hand brushing back her hair and then cupping his jaw. "I meant...I meant what I said, Reese. You have shown more courage than half the men in my batallions ever did. You've been through hell and back darlin' and if I could I would give you different memories, better memories but I can't...and you just..you just keep going and that's...that's amazing to me." He stated softly, his thumb caressing her jaw gently as he gazed at her while they sat in the moving wagon, the hay beneath them. He swallowed heavily, his eyes soft in the moonlight spilling over them in a ethreal fashion. He leaned forward a bit more, getting closer to her as his voice got more serious. "If anyone deserves that medal, that recognition, it's you, Reese, not me. God, you amaze me, you know that?" He shook his head. "I hate that your old beyond your age and yet it humbles me, the way you can cope and deal with whatever life throws at you. Your the strongest woman I have ever seen baby doll, you've lost so much and yet you still smile so brightly..." He shook his head, his voice soft and honest. "..it takes me breath away."
