yea it's awful isnt it..i lived in ireland for almost 2 years, so its not unusual to smile at filipino's because u r too but filipino's back there especially pinoy's from Dublin arent so friendly as i thought they would be, everyone is making it sound like they're all so nice to each other but they're all nifty towards their own group of "pinoy" in they're own little area..if you dont live in the same little town or city you wont hear any hello's or see any smiles out of them..all you get is this "what r u doing here in ireland" look and oh a rude stare too...
well vides im hoping for a filipinoirish network back in ireland too, as much as u do, coz i have a lil boy who'd probably love to have a filipinoirish playmate back there...

hello, i recently received an offer to work as a clerk/office assistant in dublin ireland. the job details are as follows: EURO 14 per hour 39 hours per week 2 years contract with possibility to renew till 5 years. visa fee and air fare will be shouldered by the employer. this offer was sent by euoffice and i paid the processing fee of EURO 32 at translatoruk( european translation agency)/ can you please comment on this offer. would also like to ask if the offer is good, how about the cost of living there in dublin, will i make it with the offer they are giving me? hope for your reply. thanks

Hello I'm from Philippines currently here in Ireland and married to Croatian. My husband just got a job here and I also want to work here but I don't have permit. I went to Immigration they said I go online for eu treaty rights. But when I checked my requirements I need to have PPS number. But when I checked pps online they said I cannot get if I'm seeking for job. And when I tried to look for job the employer said I need stamp 4. I don't know anymore I'm confused. Is there anyone who could help me here what I need to do? At least same situation like me... I'm a non-eea and my husband is eu national.

Dont fall to their bait. ther's no such work force registration for non European nationals. and if u have noticed the registration forms and seal from that damn agency, its obviously, different from the original and real application form for work permit from that the Ireland government is issuing.

First of all please accept my apology for this unsolicited mail. I am Filipino living back in the Philippines. I had happened to come across the online petition campaign being undertaken by the Reproductive Health Advocacy Network (RHAN) in the country. RHAN is trying to gather signatures to petition Philippine Congress to legislate the Reproductive Health Bill. If you know about and support the goals of the bill but have not read nor signed the online petition yet and would just like to, you can go to this link:

I am not directly connected with RHAN but just a concerned citizen trying to help them. Right now I have been trying to get in touch with as many Pinoy communities including those abroad who are still citizens and have direct connections or interest with the politico-social events in the country.
What i am most personally concerned about this issue is the potentially compounding impact of the worsening effects of climate change. The Ateneo School of Government in Manila had just put online a paper from a recently held professorial lecture where the potential impacts of this phenomenon were detailed and reading it I realize the serious implications this has on our country specially when our population is (according to experts) set to double in the next several decades.
Studies which really got my attention include projections of PAGASA (Philippine weather authority) on sea level rise if it were to go around 1 meter will displace 2 million people in Manila alone, and this is using current population figures. Climate experts also expects that a combination of droughts and floods will hit respective parts of the country that could severely affect agriculture. Even our marine food supply can be affected as scientists have found out that rising sea temperatures can slowly kill off coral reef ecosystems upon which the fish that the millions of our fishermen depend upon. Just imagine the economic and social impacts that could befall our kababayans when this happens.

Regarding the climate effects mentioned above, the Philippines as a nation would most likely have little impact as of the moment to slow down or even reverse these since measures that are being implemented or formulated by the international community will take decades at the least to generate the desired changes. For the meantime, the country would remain amongst the most vulnerable. But on decelerating our population growth I believe is more within our power to change and would directly and greatly lessen these population vulnerabilities. But sadly measures to do so are not being implemented fast enough, the Reproductive Health Bill envisions to do this and should be enacted as soon as possible. But as most everyone knows and as you have written yourself, there are certain sectors in Philippine society who strongly lobbies against the bill. The bill badly needs its own lobby support and thus I am trying to contribute my own little effort.
I believe there are also a lot of Filipino citizens living abroad who are supportive of this agenda but may not be aware of the petition campaign and so the reason for this mail is my asking for your kind assistance in passing along the links above to those you may know about through your contacts and networks among your families, friends and colleagues and/or get them to post the same on their respective online sites.

Im maritess, i would like to ask some advise regarding my application for a visit visa. My case is a bit complicated as i have been refused twice, the first one was when i applied for a domestic worker visa in uk and the second one was a visit visa in ireland. The reason of the refusal of my application in ireland is my previous refusal record for uk.
Me and my sponsor who is my friend is planning to make an appeal but we do not know where to start and how to prove to the visa officer that i will really follow the rules of my stay there and not go to the u.k. We have complied to all the documents required to us, and we dont have much idea on what are the additional documents that we need to prove my sincerity to follow their rules and return home in the Philippines.

Having read your circumstances I can see why your visit visa to Ireland was rejected.
No disrespect meant, but unemployed domestic helpers as tourists to one of the most expensive countries in Europe does not ring as true to me and I'm sure Irish authorities are no fools when it comes to something like this.
My advice is do things legally, re apply in the UK.

Hi i'm Lynde, i'm livin' here in ireland for almost 2 years now. I am working as a childminder. I am also a massage therapist both sweddish and pregnancy. I also took the training as a Doula(woman caregiver).
So i'm calling for all the pregnant filipino women's who wants to give birth here in ireland, if you are interested of having a doula feel free to reply to this message of mine and i will give you my contacts and maybe we can meet up and talk about this.
It's very typical in the philippines that when giving birth at home there will be a midwife and the assistant(mananabang)and that assistant is what i called the "DOULA". It's very new here in Ireland that only a few people have heard about it i guess. It's originally came from the USA and now it's in the UK. Ang magandang balita po dito ay may kinalaman sa inyong ating mga kababayan na nariyan at naghahanap-buhay sa Ireland. Pagkakataon na po ninyo itong ilahad ang inyong mga kasaysayan sa amin: lungkot at ligaya,problema at pag-asa, kahit ano pa po, pakikinggan namin, itatala, at pararatingin sa mga kinauukulan dito sa ating Inang Bayan.
Kung magpa-pangkat pangkat po kayo ayon sa inyong lugar ng tirahan, parokya, o ayon sa inyong kinabibilangang organisasyon, magtatakda po kami ng ilang mga araw pagkatapos ng kumperensya upang makaniig kayo, dalawin kayo sa inyong mga tahanan, pagawaan, simbahan o social hall, kung saan man kayo komportableng makapagsasalita.
Ang makipag-usap sa mga Pilipinong manggagawa sa ibang bansa ay bahagi po ng aming tungkulin sa CBCP, at lagi po naming isinasagawa tuwing kami'y naipapadala sa ibang bansa. Ikalulugod po naming makilala kayo at maging bahagi ng aming gawaing ito para sa Simbahan--pakikinggan po namin kayo kahit na po ano ang relihiyon ninyo. Ang mahalaga lang po'y Pilipinong manggagawa kayo sa ibang bansa.

ON-THE-BALL staff helped to catch a thief red-handed after vulnerable pensioners had their belongings stolen by a nurse at a 40,000-a-year South Dublin nursing home.
Ouffy Magat swiped a total of 660 from 10 residents in March and April at Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Dalkey. But staff caught the 26-year-old Filipino red-handed after their suspicions prompted them to secretly fit CCTV cameras in the building. Once enough evidence had been gathered, management alerted gardai. Magat appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court and pleaded guilty to the larceny. He was remanded on bail to appear before the court again for sentencing. He is expected to co-operate fully with the probe in a desperate bid to save his work rights in Ireland.
The families of those who fell victim to the rogue nurse's actions are also understood to be satisfied with the clever way the matter was handled by the staff members.
It is understood that nursing home workers assisted Magat in securing a work permit before he came to Ireland.
