Subject: Brazilian Elections

Dear Editor,

I don’t believe that Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva deserves to become president for a second term, however, my opinion doesn’t matter as much as the voters’ opinion. In spite of his past scandals and the corruption he created, the people of Brazil are willing to overlook his past actions because of all the positive things he has done for the people. He has helped the poor by providing jobs as well as giving grants to the needy. Although it may seem like Lula is the perfect man for the job, he can’t solve all of Brazil’s economic problems.
Because of his first term, it is almost certain that he will get the job again. In the first term, he had 39.3 billion votes while his competitor had 19.6 billion votes. He has the majority of the voters’ support. He has support of the poor because he has helped them in the past. Despite of all the good he has done, the scandals involving Lula’s Working Party should still be considered. They have been involved in so many scandals that it is hard to keep count of each. Brazilian elections are not that different from American elections. Lula is linked to fraud and disgrace as well as our President Bush. Regardless of all the wrong he has done, all signs are saying that Lula will most likely be named president second time around.
