Subject: Brazilian Elections

Letter to the Editor of The New York Times concerning the article "Embattled Brazil Incumbent Fails to Win First-Round Ballot"

Dear Sir,
Brazilians are definitely not seeing eye-to-eye in this ballot. “Mr. Mello” and “Mrs. Bandeira”, husband and wife, portrait perfectly, at their house, what is going on throughout the country: and that is why we are having a Second- Round, as opposed to what Mr. “Lula” expected.
Many Brazilians agree with Mr. Mello: they are tired of all scandals and they consider themselves betrayed by the President they elected. The “I didn’t know” statement seems to be irritating many people, who don’t believe it.
However, several people share Mrs. Bandeira’s opinion: they believe that Mr. “Lula” has done more for poor people than previous presidents and, therefore, he deserves another chance.
Regardless the result of the ballot one thing we all agree on: everybody wants to choose what is best for Brazil. This is a beautiful land with hard working people: it is time for us to be respected by our politicians.
