Subject: Good bye Childhood

It appears that in today’s society, everyone is in a huge rush to grow up. What’s wrong with enjoying your childhood? When I was younger, I used to play with my family and my friends all the time. We used to put on shows for our family, we played board games, we danced, we had a blast, there was never a moment when my friends and I weren’t busy having a great time.
Today I see twelve and thirteen year olds putting on makeup, kissing their boyfriends, and even worrying about sex. I hear stories of how two thirteen year olds had sex in their parents bedroom, how two children got wasted at a party where the majority age is eighteen, how two kids are abusing substances, even how two kids are ready to end their lives by cutting their wrists.
What’s wrong with today’s society is that children forget that they are children and forget that they are allowed to have fun. Having fun does not mean getting drunk, or taking drugs, or having sex with your boyfriend or girlfriend at thirteen. It means going to the movies, going on a bike ride, playing hockey or basketball. A person does not have to be afraid to have fun, they do not have to fit in with their “friends” by getting drunk or even pregnant. What happens when you finally do grow up? You will look back on your past and realize you never knew what it was like to be a child, and it will sadden you. All I can say is enjoy it while you are still young, there’s plenty of time in your life to be an adult, don’t miss out on your once chance to be a kid.
