Subject: Teen Advice"Depressed Freiends"

"Two of my closest friends are very depressed. Both of them have hurt themselves and they tell me everything. One of them is getting help but it really isn't helping her. The other one swears she's ok but she is always depressed, because of a recent break up. They tell me everything and I dont know what to do. I dont know what to say. Its hurting me seeing them like this, but it's only getting me depressed. I dont know what to do anymore. Can you please give me some advise on how I can deal with this and how I can help them?

female,14yrs
USA"

The advice:
Sometimes it is very difficult to deal with this kind of friend, I have already had this kind of problem. Although each case requires a different action, I’ll tell my opinion.
I believe that you have to listen to their arguments and try to give your own opinion. Try show them the possibilities of one problem, trying to see the good points of the situation. It will be difficult, because for depressed people it is almost impossible see both sides of something.
Moreover answer the phone with a friendly voice all the time, and always say something good.
Believe that a good friend is better than a psychologist…
