My heart goes out to you. I have been in the same situation. My best friend was in a horrible car accident while we were in high school. She was unconcious and they were unsure if she would even make it. I know the fear and the worry you must be going through. I agree with the person above, spent as much time as possible with him/her and make them feel relaxed and comfortable. By doing this, it will rub off on you and the situation will become a tiny bit easier. Death is not an easy thing to cope with by no means. Try to look at the positive aspects of the friendship and all the memories. Cherish them forever and the best thing that you can do for you friend is to not just forget. I hope things go well.
