>>> After Charley, the cost of lodging on Sanibel took a big increase. something which many don't consider very tourist friendly. Especially if you've been out of business and need the tourist dollar to stay afloat.<<<<

I am in the rental business and I can't tell you one, single place that raised their prices after Charley. The vast majority I know dropped prices, or at least held steady. We're not foolish enough to scare off everyone with high prices. To say "the cost of lodging on Sanibel took a big increase" is simply not true. If you're condo raised prices, I strongly suggest you explore the market next time.

<<Can't we all express our views on this message board without being slammed?

Typically, yes. And I'm very sorry to slam anyone here. I know this board is very civil and I don't want to disrupt it. But you need to remember that Sanibel is not just a place for all you to come for two weeks a year to collect shells. People live and work here. We were hit by the hurricane, not you. We suffered the impact of the hurricane, not you. What gives you the right to question why were not offering deals to lure you back. Do you look at the hurricane as an opportunity to have a cheaper vacation?

I know we depend on all of you; and we very much appreciate you. But I really think it's unfair to try and capitalize on our loss and expect a hurricane "deal."
