>With all due respect, I disagree. If you talk to anyone, especially waitstaff that has no interest in the island other than making good tips, business has been off since Charley. As one waiter put it to me last April, "The season was horrendous." In April the island was very quiet during what was normally a bustling time. It was actually quite pleasant! As a poster a few posts down mentioned recently, "email your suggestions to the city on how to bring the tourism back because they are meeting on that soon."

Many are hopeful that as South Seas reopens and all other accomodations are up to full availability, it will help bring the numbers of tourists back.

I do sense both in posting conversation and when I was on the island that there is a hush about the lower turnout of tourist. Its almost as if no one talks about it, it won't really be happening. No one wants the word out that this isn't THE place to visit post Charley. Of course that is personal choice - many who have gone there year after year or live on the island feel exactly the same about it and wouldn't dream of not going there.

But back to your question, yes, the crowds are less.

Sue

Oh yeah, it's back to normal.
