Re the stingrays; they swim along the bottom, and don't like to be stepped on. Shuffle your feet along when the stingrays are around, and they will swim away. If you step down on them, they can't swim away, and you get stuck in the foot by their barb, which sticks up from the base of their tail. Shuffle, and you will have no problem.
