Subject: puh... even short movies of independent filmmakers cost A LOT!!!

The last Oscar for shortfilms, was awarded to a german guy... The film was about 15 minutes long, had no serious special effects or fancy expensive stuff... JUST filming. No paid actors as far as I know. It was basically a so called No-Budget Film. BUT no-budget in film business does not mean NO budget at all... That short movie still cost 30.000 € which is about 40.000$ ... and the guy spend 5 years running around trying to get that money. And he spend about 5 days filming... which is fast, even for just 15 minutes on screen!

So in conclusion: It is impossible without money... even if you are a film student in some big filmschool, you still need money... even if you get all free actors and crew, they need catering, transportation, equipment...

To make an epic story like GFD into a Movie, you will need lots of money...

I've once seen a short movie from a filmstudent (it was his final diploma movie) with a scifi setting and lots of awesome special effects... it was a full lenght movie, about 1.5 hours, and his budget was somewhere between 0.5 and 1 million... It's scary, but thats the way it is...
