9.1.1. In the case of all solo and team competitions in all grades, the age of a competitor on the 1st January of the year in which the competition is held will determine the right of entry. For the purposes of this Rule a competitor whose birthday occurs on 1st January shall be deemed to be under the age attained on that date.

9.2.1. Where any syllabus of competitions include more than one solo competition for the same dance in the same grade and confined or open to the same area, a minimum age limit (except in the case of the competition for the youngest age group) and a maximum age limit (except in the case of the competitions for the highest age group) must be specified for each competition so that no dancer will be eligible to compete in more than one competition for the same dance in the same grade and confined or open to the same area. Similarly, in the case of competitions which are Championships or Premier Competitions as defined in Rules 16.1.1. and 16.2.1. respectively, and in which the same dances are required for more than one Championship or Prime Competition minimum and maximum age limits must be specified as appropriate.

9.3.1. Where in the case of a team competition a minimum age limit is stipulated a teacher, or in the case of a Registered Cumann. the team director, may include in a team dancers who are under the stipulated age limit provided the number of such dancers does not comprise more than 25% of the full team and that the competition organisers are informed accordingly prior to the competition. This percentage may not be exceeded without the prior consent of the Competition organisers. Special conditions shall apply in the case of World, National and Regional Championships.
