Here you can complain, moan and generally bi@#$ about pageants, their outcomes, vendors and just about everything else. We just ask that you don't mention names of children. They are, after all, a product of their parents. When names are mentioned, even initials, then banning will commence. Let's use this as a way to vent. I will allow for anonymity, after all, if you're being petty, you don't want to be called on it. Don't get angry, opinions are just that. You mean Total Mess Va State because thats what it was. Wrong names called in wrong groups, contestants called for winning overalls that they didn't enter, director's kids running across stage (floor) during competition, music that wouldn't work, dollar gifts, not one trophy or plaque given for anything, the nasty hotel, the judges that she said didn't show up (yeah right) and she had to use her mother in law, sister and a friend that had never judged before! This pageant was a total mess. It was her first and really should be her last. The national director would have had a fit if she had been there. Forgot to mention that it took 2 hrs for 5 people to use a calculater to add the scores for only 29 contestants. No score sheets were given out like paperwork said & she would not let you view the master like paperwork said. The so called qualified judges were not around for questions afterwards. They were judging photogenic between the break as most one day pageants do. We viewed the master, and we saw our score sheets. Everyone placsed exactly where I thought they would. So the judging was on. It doesnt take much to see who the stands outs were. All beautiful seasoned competitors. Not everyone can win. Decorations may not have been up to par but the pageant was super cheap, and it was only state level. Let's just let this go, now with royalty next year she will have some more help. Supremes were way off and this was suppose to be a glitz pageant and points were being deducted for them being "too much". It was a glitz pageant, again still only state level. All the supremes were nationals competitors except for the oldest. This was not a pageant with stage lighting such as heavy overhead lighting, the judges were right on top of you, its common sense that the girls should have been toned down. The winners were real competition, its not nice to say such things about children because your daughter didnt place as high as you had hoped. I have to agreee with most of what has been posted. Jennifer is so sweet I am sad to see this pageant flop. it started when her judges and her MC didn't show up. She had to use her family to judge and as nice as they were, youre right they were not qualfied to be judges at a glitz pageant! They didn't like the flippers or the hair and tanning, they did say that the modeling was too much. They commented that it was all too fake! Her mother- in- law said that she was "not a judge" but she didn't have a choice. Yes her kids were running crazy around the ballroom but all the people that were suppose to help her with the kids were judging. I think all of the little girls that won were AWESOME but I was a little surprised that several girls didn't score better. Overall I think Jennifer was a little overwhelmed and I doubt she will be doing this again. I have been to, put my daughter in and directed a lot of pageants in my time. It is virtually impossible odds for all 3 judges and an MC to just not show. One maybe but not all. Further I know for a fact that she knew she needed at least one more judge last week b/c she asked someone I know to judge. From what I remember, Jennifer was the director for Total Miss, and her mom (the one referred to as the judge with long greasy hair) is the director for Magical Moments. This one may have been bad. BUT do you think that maybe her second try would be better ? It must be very hard the first time out. I am thinking of becoming a pre-lim director. It is scaring me to death. Maybe she should be givin a second chance but have someone who had done many of them there helping and guiding her through it all a couple of times if needed. Don't let this scare you off. The biggest rule you have to remember for being a director (I've been there, prelim, state and national). You MUST live up to your promises. If you promise decorations, have them and make them nice! If you promise no pro rating, follow up, Whatever you say on your paperwork, it is in writing and pageant moms will hold you to it. Don't promise what you can't give and give exactly what you promise, and hopefully more. Plan wayyyyy in advance, don't be buying decorations, gifts, etc the night before. Be organized. just plan for the unexpected. Ask other directors from reputable systems for advice. I'm always happy to offer advice on different aspects of running a pageant, because I want the other directors to succeed as well. It give that director a good name, as well as pageantry in general. RE: trashing before and after of TM. Just look at the money and time they are spending on just one pageant. You have to pay the hundreds in fees to enter, then another two hundred atleast to stay at the hotel! You are spending a whole weekend to win a trophy and crown that cost way less than what you spent to be there! If you are lucky enough to win you might gain back what you spent. Then what? Has your whole world changed? I've never been a big fan of the pageants that run hundreds of dollars to attend. Pageants are fun to an extent, but not enough fun to spend a paycheck on much less spend time away from your family. I do enjoy supporting our friends that still attend though! We have been away from pageants for awhile, and considering returning. Are more people using leather shoes instead of the satin shoes now? Sorry but believe that satin is still in. Agree with you however they sure do not stay nice long. I use to put other shoes on my DD right up until they go on stage. Then as soon as she finished the stage I replaced the satin shoes with others again. In other words only wore them just as they went on stage. Good luck to all your up coming pageant. I'm glad to see you feel the same way. I always waited to the last minute to put them on too. I even used to put socks over them until the last minute since she always crossed her legs and banged the shoes together! I really like the satin best as well. It just pulls everyting together. I also like socks with just a little bit of stones on the sides, just very little sparkle on a simple sock. I see where people are saying no stones on socks now too! I think I'll stick with what we did in the past, she won a few titles "back in the day", so we couldn't have been too off in our ideas HA HA HA! Thanks for the good wishes as well! I have given them plenty of time and is why I have not let the lady know what happened before this.

Well nothing happened. I got no responce from anyone. They are all afraid that I will without a doubt be able to show them that what I have been saying all along was the truth. It isn't just what I think or even how I feel.
It is all in the tape.

I do not wish to bring this all up again. BUT the woman did ask to let her know so felt I should be sure and do that.

Your dd is a pretty and sweet child but is not yet at the same level as a lot of the other girls in her age group. I am not sure what this post is even about, but it is true that 5 of us could watch a pageant video and have 5 different opinions-if a good pageant, rarely would the winner be obvious standout to everyone. This has nothing to do with the Elite pageant. It also is not just an opinion. It is what EVERYONE could see by watching this tape from this pageant. It isn't because of who won or who didn't . Okay, MB won overall beauty title and overall talent in MD at the TM state pageant. So I guess that "never" is a misnomer. Fact is, I'm not angry because she didn't place until I saw the tapes and got the judges scores. Are the requirements different for every TM pageant from state to state? Also, there were others in her age group that deserved to place better or just place as well. I'm not saying that she should have won. In fact, there were some very good girls there. I would say each state differs in their pageants, judging and opinions. This could start a huge controversy however... if you compare.... VA girls have more of an "it factor" than other northern states. I've looked at web site photos... VA pageant girls and other southern states just seem to have a different "total package". DD is a VA pageant girl. Just went to MD for the TM state where she competed with other VA pageant girls and won. I wasn't questioning where they are from, I was questioning whether or not the rules or judging styles change from state to state for the same pageant system. DD has done well in other pageants both in this state and abroad. Sometimes she wins and sometimes she loses. We know the name of the game and we deal with it. TM is the only system were my dd has come off the stage BEFORE crowning and said that she didn't want to return. Not saying that others don't have a positive experience, just not for us. Bingo! That is the key-every pageant has it's own 'quirks' and good and bad; instead of trying to get everyone to watch the video, make the loudest statement of all-DON'T Go Back! Yes, TM has been discussed for years, some love it, many others don't. Many have tried it and for whatever reason (my dd included) didn't care for the experience and chose not to return. There are plenty of other pageants. We don't keep spending hard earned $$ on one we don't like, or don't agree with or just didn't enjoy the experience. I know that one of the GS has had many GS titles on all three levels (prelim, state and national) and has done very well in glitz. Not sure what natural you are doing but we do several and it is not just the face. You must do modeling just like any other pageant. The only difference is that when you win it is on your own beauty and not what the fake stuff can give you. Don't get me wrong if you like glitz then nothing wrong with it.
