As stated by the previous reply, the marks are displayed in numerical order by each adjudicator on a large screen. The dancers do not know until the final adjudicators marks are announced, which palce they get overall, unless however their marks are consistently good or bad. When marks are close it adds to the excitement as it can be hard to add up seven marks for two, three and more dancers in order to work out final placements. Tension can be mighty and many dancers don't celebrate their win until final placings are displayed on the screen. Dancers then have five or ten minutes to compose themselves and make their way sidestage for presentation of awards. -- World of Irish Dancing Message Board

How come they already know i rather think this is unfair on the competitors that do get the lower placers it would be degrading to them!
