With the Worlds and All Ireland's coming up, it got me thinking - Should adjudicators for major competitions be limited to those who do not have a dancing school?
Would this help remove the suspicion of favours, or would there not be enough adjudicators without schools to do this?

- Hello, I am new to this board but wanted to ask a question out of region. -- dance mom, 03:17:22 03/09/09 Thu [3]
I have a dancer that is 14 and dancing 10 years. This will be our 7th Oireachtas. She had an injury in the summer and had been off dance for almost 2 months she recently started back and injury has subsided. We have missed all the summer feisanna and I am wondering if I would be hasty to send her to the O without recently competing. Has anyone ever heard of or know of any older dancers that did not compete at feises but went to the Oierachtas and survived it.My daughter sits middle of the pack and has been in and out of recalls.
Am I setting her up for a big fall?

I am a bit upset and not sure if anyone else has been through this. Dancing in Celtic has OTR dresses, and having been looking for one for quite some time now, I saw a new addition to them, showed my daughter, she loved it. I inquired by email, giving some of her measurements. The response was quick, and I was told that the dress was too big but could be altered for a fee. Ann said to fill out an order form, which I did, which included all my credit card info and a note to put the order through. I did not get a response right away, so I inquired again, waited a day, still no response. I then called them by phone, was told she was at Nationals and I would receive an email tomorrow. I did get my email this morning and was told the dress had been sold! I can't believe this. Did she take the dress to Nationals? Why, when there was an inquiry, would she do this? In my first email to them, I wrote that if the dress could be altered to fit her, it was sold (to us)!! I believe I did everything right and should have been given consideration. Am I wrong to think this?

Some of my friends think that this video (Pop music dubbed over an Irish Dance Video) shows the way forward. I don't agree. It is RiverDance multiplied by 1000. Anyway, RiverDance is essentially Irish music. The pop element makes it a wholke new ballgame. My view: exciting pop music-Yes. Exciting Irish Dance- Yes. BUT not the two together

- Going To Ireland -- McInerney Dancer, 19:42:40 02/03/09 Mon [1]
Hi all I am a 23 year old female from the East Coast of CT.I graduate from college on May 9th.For a present my father is taking me to Ireland for 2-3 weeks. We leave May 11th and we return May 22nd. We will be flying into Shannon and spending the first night in Limerick and then driving to Kilkeeny to the area of Stonyford to stay with relatives. Our trip ends in Dublin at 6 a.m. on May 22nd.But between being in Stonyford the 13th and 14th until the 22nd our trip is open to any and all options.
Does anyone have any places between Shannon and Dublin that I should go to or see during my travels and are there going to be any feisanna in areas between Shannon and dublin between the 12th and 22nd of May?
Thank you for your help :)

I don't normally bother with dance compilation videos but this one was great fun, mainly because (in my opinion) the Irish steps and moves are simply WAY AHEAD of the salsa, jiving etc. There is something classy Irish Dancing that makes it the best.

Does anyone else ever question the integrity and honesty of the volunteers behind the scenes at feisianna? How do we know for a fact that the results we see are the same as the adjudicators' placements? Once the scores leave the adjudicator's hands, who handles the results? Are we all just trusting local feis moms from the host school and surrounding schools to handle the scores properly? And what are the chances that there are some honest mistakes as well? Just want to make sure we are involved in an honest sport - that's all. What do you think?
