- good & bad -- mom, 04:06:42 04/10/08 Thu [3]
We are at a school where there are differnt teaching personalities. One personality is nurturing & supportive to students & parents. Another is harsh & "mean" & the students are crying. How do you approach one of the teachers to discuss this issue? or will we just be black balled? thanks for constuctive advice.

Karen Petri will be judging Denogla dancers at the Worlds, but Denogla’s daughters dance for Petri! Isn’t this a conflict of interest? Doesn’t CLRG have rules about this?

- Hello, I am new to this board but wanted to ask a question out of region. -- dance mom, 03:17:22 09/03/09 Thu [3]
I have a dancer that is 14 and dancing 10 years. This will be our 7th Oireachtas. She had an injury in the summer and had been off dance for almost 2 months she recently started back and injury has subsided. We have missed all the summer feisanna and I am wondering if I would be hasty to send her to the O without recently competing. Has anyone ever heard of or know of any older dancers that did not compete at feises but went to the Oierachtas and survived it.My daughter sits middle of the pack and has been in and out of recalls.
Am I setting her up for a big fall?

- dancing in celtic otr dresses -- jamie, 15:19:34 07/25/09 Sat [2]
I am a bit upset and not sure if anyone else has been through this. Dancing in Celtic has OTR dresses, and having been looking for one for quite some time now, I saw a new addition to them, showed my daughter, she loved it. I inquired by email, giving some of her measurements. The response was quick, and I was told that the dress was too big but could be altered for a fee. Ann said to fill out an order form, which I did, which included all my credit card info and a note to put the order through. I did not get a response right away, so I inquired again, waited a day, still no response. I then called them by phone, was told she was at Nationals and I would receive an email tomorrow. I did get my email this morning and was told the dress had been sold! I can't believe this. Did she take the dress to Nationals? Why, when there was an inquiry, would she do this? In my first email to them, I wrote that if the dress could be altered to fit her, it was sold (to us)!! I believe I did everything right and should have been given consideration. Am I wrong to think this?

I was thinking about how in other sports "record-holders" are extremeley well know. I wondering, who in Irish Dance are record holders, on a worldwide scale (e.g. most world titles held by a female, most world titles held by a male, number of Americans to win a world title, number of Australians, etc, etc)? Sometimes it's interesting to know what to strive towards! Thanks!

Some of my friends think that this video (Pop music dubbed over an Irish Dance Video) shows the way forward. I don't agree. It is RiverDance multiplied by 1000. Anyway, RiverDance is essentially Irish music. The pop element makes it a wholke new ballgame. My view: exciting pop music-Yes. Exciting Irish Dance- Yes. BUT not the two together

- Going To Ireland -- McInerney Dancer, 19:42:40 03/02/09 Mon [1]
Hi all I am a 23 year old female from the East Coast of CT.I graduate from college on May 9th.For a present my father is taking me to Ireland for 2-3 weeks. We leave May 11th and we return May 22nd. We will be flying into Shannon and spending the first night in Limerick and then driving to Kilkeeny to the area of Stonyford to stay with relatives. Our trip ends in Dublin at 6 a.m. on May 22nd.But between being in Stonyford the 13th and 14th until the 22nd our trip is open to any and all options.
Does anyone have any places between Shannon and Dublin that I should go to or see during my travels and are there going to be any feisanna in areas between Shannon and dublin between the 12th and 22nd of May?
Thank you for your help :)

Sarah Marince, a 17 year old Irish dancer with the Bell School in Pittsburgh, PA has spent the past few months on Music Row in Nashville completing her first Nashville CD titled "Somebody Like You." Take a listen...it's awesome! You can catch some of her songs on her music myspace which is www.myspace.com/sarahmarince. Her CD will be available for sale on CDBaby.com and other local Pittsburgh retailers the second week of January. Her CD Release Party is scheduled for January 12...go to her myspace for details. Her CD is currently being shopped to major record labels and she would love the support of the Irish Dance commnity!!! Record labels check the plays on her myspace...so if everyone would check it out and give her songs a listen...it would be a great help to Sarah moving forward.Sarah began her career singing at local feisanna and has been competing for the Bell School for nine years...let's show our support for one of our own!!
Thanks! Merry Christmas!

- For all of you who are Eire Bubbles Ultimates sock fans... -- Jennifer Smith - Tartan Toes, 18:50:01 12/04/07 Tue [1]
The factory that makes these socks in Australia has closed. I have received my last shipment and have 8 medium and 18 extra large. When they are gone, there will be no more. I know some of you really need an extra large sock, so I wanted to announce this so that you can get them while I still have them. www.tartantoes.com.

- I would like to ask all of the readers of this board to sign a petition. Please see inside for details. -- Pat King, 04:04:14 07/19/07 Thu [3]
The Irish Government, in its misguided wisdom, has decided to build a motorway through one of the most important historical sites in Ireland and Europe.Tara was home to the High Kings of Ireland, and as such is critical in preserving our heritage and historical values.I ask that you take a minute of your time to sign this petition and hopefully reverse a repulsive decision for supposed progress. The petition can be found at http://www.petitiononline.com/Temair/petition.html.
Thank you.
Pat King
