After reading all these concerns about Nutro Max, it really makes me stop and think of my old Boxer, Sasha. We had her on Nutro Max for most of her life. She was a very energetic dog, no major health concerns. One day we noticed after she got up from laying down there was a puddle of urine under her. Got her checked out and they said to just keep her hydrated since we live in the dry desert. That would happen every few months, just thinking she is getting UTI's from dehydration, crystallized bladder from the water where we live (not uncommon) etc. When we purchased our neapolitan mastiff, i changed both their food to Blue Buffalo. Now thinking it was too late :(
Mother's Day of 2011 I came home to find my poor little 8 year old girl (Boxer), outside not being able to move. I picked her up and put her on the tile in the restroom hoping she didnt have heat stroke. Gave her little water at a time and finally she was able to lift her head at least. I called my original vet (before we even had her), and rushed her in at 9:00pm. As soon as they went to take samples from her abdomen, the syringe was full of blood. Right then they knew something wasnt right (obviously). What happened was she had an undetected cancer/tumor in her stomach that erupted. When it did erupt, and since it was attached to a nerve, it paralyzed her. I had to make the decision that everyone hates making right there. My poor little girl. (RIP Sahsa, we will always love you!).Ok im crying, but now it all makes me wonder if it all started because of her food?
