Que una nena blanca, fina, de la alta sociedad, de ojos claros y “reina”, se casara con un prieto era visto como “desmejorar la raza”, según se decía en los años 40 en Puerto Rico. La realidad biológica fue otra: ellos dos juntos dieron buenos retoños, porque el Capó nieto, de joven, era de lo más guapo. Yo llegué a interactuar con doña Nydia varias veces, y me encantaba que me hablara de los tiempos en que ella y su esposo, Bobby, “jangueaban” en Nueva York con Josephine Baker. A Josephine le encantaban las canciones de Bobby Capó, e hizo de “Me importas tú” y “Piel canela” todo un éxito en París. ¡Ella era una mujer altamente fabulosa y mucho más bella de mayor que de joven!
