CYNTHIA OLAVARRIA -- ., 20:52:47 11/07/09 Sat [1] (adsl-69-231-196-38.dsl.irvnca.pacbell.net/69.231.196.38)

A Night to Remember
By Ara Gonzales
A night full of beauty, elegance, glitter, and prestige- that’s how I can describe the pre-pageant long gown competition of Miss Erath 2009 last night November 7, 2009 held at Subic Bay Yacht Club.
There were 26 goddesses of the earth that took the runway by storm as they ramp gracefully wearing their long gown. Here are the complete pictures of the 26 lovely girls.
Miss Brazil is very sweet, she gives me her personal leaflet that promotes her country. She is very tall, beautiful, and her personality is very vibrant.
Miss Paraguay and Guatemala accidentally exchanged their sash but both girls are very polite. Miss Paraguay is beautiful. Her beauty is very prominent.
Picture number one is Miss El Salvador. I actually look for her to take her picture personally for my friend who made her national costume. But when I approach her she is all smiles and she even asks me if I saw her sash. This girl is very friendly and also beautiful up close.
Puerto Rico is also friendly and very beautiful also Tanzania and Nigeria. All in all the girls are friendly and beautiful. So for those who are under estimating these girls, please stop it because they are all beautiful in their own way.
The top 5 placer for this segment are Brazil, Guam, Mexico, Paraguay, and Thailand. Here are more pics. Enjoy and sorry for the grammar lapses.

Miss PUERTO RICO
DIGNELIS JIMÉNEZ
Age: 25
Profession: Lawyer
Puerto Rico is commonly known as “The Enchanted Island”. It has definitely earned its nickname because of the warm hearted people, beautiful tropical beaches and vegetation. It is home to an astonishing variety of natural wonders: rain forest, beaches, caves, oceans and rivers. Many of our beaches have been awarded with the eco-label “blue flag” a prestigious, international award scheme given only to a few coastal destinations that are considered to be the best in the world and who have achieved the highest quality in water, safety, facilities, environmental education and management. Also, it is well-known for its impressive national rain forest “ El Yunque”, which is among the 28 finalists chosen to become one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. In conclusion, although small in geographical proportions, the diversity and mixture of the people and its surroundings make Puerto Rico an ideal and fascinating destination.
UNEARTHED FACT:
As a graduation gift to myself, I used my savings to an academic expedition to France and had the opportunity to visit The Louvre. As I looked around, I was ecstatic to see the famous portraits and sculptures that I was taught in my school years.

Beauty sleep apparently isn’t the order of the day in a beauty pageant.
Like Miss Northern Ireland said, “How are we supposed to be beautiful if we’re not gettin’ beauty sleep?!”
Especially if we were gonna be meeting our fans today. Haha. Not that we KNEW about the welcome reception that awaited us. We were told to dress comfortably in jeans and a red Miss Earth top for our flight to Laoag. Emblazoned on the front our mini tops were the words “I am Miss Earth”. As if the green sashes proudly declaring our the pageant and our countries weren’t statement enough. Haha.
Naturally, a bunch of already tall girls pottering about with luggages on tall heels attracts attention. But with the eye-catching red tops and green sashes, we were suddenly celebrities in the local airport.
I cannot even begin to describe the attention we got. We thought the picture taking was crazy at the Manila airport, what with people trying to sneak shots of us as we were eating, but we had only just gotten the least of it.
Laoag took us by storm. Upon touch down at the Laoag International Airport we were so mesmerized by the blue skies and vast lands that the welcome reception for us was ignored. People were waiting for us and there even was a band playing, but truth be told, we did not expect any of it. When our attention was finally drawn to it, we were overwhelmed. Officials came to meet us and we were given traditional sunhats alongside ribbons. Hey, there even was a brochure with our faces printed on it! Haha.
Welcome ribbons donned, the following awesome motorcade was particularly memorable. Riding in the brilliant sun atop open top jeeps and seeing the cheering crowds lining the streets waiting to catch a glimpse of us made it seem as though we were Hollywood celebrities. Not something we were used to. With their mobile phone cameras pointed at us, trying to snap whatever picture they could, it was a reception to remember.
We were whisked away in a blink of an eye to the almost complete convention center for important business: tree planting. It’s not all fun and games boys and girls. We girls are here with a mission and tree planting is one small step we took today in helping to promote our green cause.
But once we got the serious business out of the way, we got to enjoy the native lands. After touring our first destination, Saint Augustine’s church, we exited to a massive crowd of cheering, screaming and delirious “fans” - a stark contrast to the quiet and serene interior of the church. The school going kids wanted pictures. We gave them that and more. Handshakes set them screaming wildly and brought them to the brink of tears. It was like we were Beyonce. With an important and strong environmental message that is.
We also visited the Marcos Mausoleum of the late President Ferdinand R. Marcos, watched how local food Empanada was prepared and toured another church. Wherever we went, the entourage followed. Even when we had some delish local food, the crowd was never too far behind. They peered in through whatever available windows there were, never giving their trigger happy fingers any rest. They waved, grinned and watched every move we made. Even as we were shoving the famous Pinakbet pizza and fried corn kernels down our throats, they were there watching us like a hawk. Haha.
The Ilocos Norte hospitality was amazing; they fed us with too much food. We ate non-stop and ate too much because it’s a waste to let scrumptious food go wasted.
Again I’m typing in the dark as the other girls nod off on the way back to our beautiful resort. We’re staying here in Laoag for 2 days before setting off to another province.
It’s been an amazing and exhilarating day. Wow. We’re so thankful that the beautiful people here are giving us great memories to bring home to our respective countries. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Miss England resigns due to Scandal
Due to the controversy generated by the British media about Miss England Rachel Christie being involved in a bar fight, the Miss England Organization released on Thursday the following statement:
“Thursday 5th November 2009 | Time: 19:00
Due to the media attention following the allegations against her, Rachel Christie has now decided to withdraw from the Miss World competition and relinquish her Miss England crown.
Rachel will concentrate on clearing her name and focus on training for the 2012 Olympics until this case is resolved.
Rachel is very upset about the matter and the Miss England organiser Angie Beasley and Miss World Chairman Julia Morley will support Rachel and are behind Rachel with her Olympic training.“
Christie had been arrested for assault after she got into a fight with Miss Manchester Sara Beverley Jones in a nightclub over Gladiator star Tornado.
Officers were called after Miss Christie, 21, who is dating Tornado – real name David McIntosh, 23 – allegedly punched Miss Jones, 24, in the face several times. Miss Christie is said to have attacked her after Miss Jones showed her a “saucy” text message from the star of the Sky One programme.
The incident happened during a porn-themed night at the Mansion club, in Manchester, where Miss Christie was dressed as an angel, and Miss Jones was dressed as a cavegirl.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Tornado had disappeared. Sara fell to the floor and was surrounded by people. Both girls then left and Sara called police.”
Miss Jones, a former Hollyoaks extra, confirmed the fight on her Twitter page on Monday. She said: “Bad time last night. Assaulted in a nightclub.”
Miss Christie was arrested on suspicion of assault after being questioned by police over the incident. She has been released on bail. Her lawyer said the athlete and model acted in self-defence and had been questioned by police.
A spokesman for Manchester Police said: “At about 12.55am on Monday 2 November 2009, police received a report of an assault at a club on Deansgate Court, Manchester City Centre.
“It is believed that, earlier that night, a 24-year-old woman got into an altercation with another woman in the club and was hit in the face several times. “The victim was taken to Hope Hospital where she received treatment for superficial facial injuries. She has now been discharged.
“A 21-year-old woman attended a city centre police station on Monday 2 November 2009 and was arrested on suspicion of assault. She has been released on bail pending further inquiries until January 2010.” Miss Jones’s and Tornado’s agents would not comment.
Miss Christie, the niece of Olympic sprinter Linford Christie, became the first black woman to win the Miss England title earlier this year. She was going to compete for the Miss World title in South Africa next month. She is also hoping to compete in the Heptathlon in the 2012 Olympics.
Tornado, a Royal Marine, has served in Afghanistan, Somalia, Northern Ireland and the Gulf. He was given time off from the Marines to appear in Gladiator.
YO SOY PATO Y TU? -- PATO FIERCE, 14:08:07 11/03/09 Tue [18] (NoHost/74.50.118.91)

Yes, I want to tell them to enjoy this experience but also that everything in life happens for a reason, Wisdom is often meant as the ability and desire to make choices and we made the choice to compete in this wonderful opportunity of Miss World 2009 that means that we have the chance to change the world by making people happy and we could do that by doing charity. A very wise man once said that ''happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions''. -Dalai Lama
What do you think are you qualities that youwill bring to the competition?
In the competition I am just going to be Me every time and I consider myself as a person with a lot of faith, a lot of love and compassion, life taught me through my brother who is handicap, that you have to be very perseverant but also that the beauty in life is to make people happy, and that is what I want to do I want to help people by making them happy.
What individual talents will seperate you from the other contestants?
I love to play the piano and I love fine arts, I also like to model and I love Photography.
What would it mean to you to do well at Miss World?
I think that it means to do my best and to enjoy the experience and have fun, but also without forgetting the essence of life and of the pageant and that is to help others.
What is your favourite landmark?
I love the Taj Mahal in India because is regarded as one of the wonders of the world, and because it is an architectural beauty and it has a love story.
What is the one thing you cannot live without?
I cannot live without my chocolates. :)
Who do you most admire?
I really admire my mom, she is a nurse and she is a hard working woman, she takes a good care of my brother who has a disease and even though she works a lot she always has time to spend with me and she is my number one fan and I love her a lot.
Who has inspired you most in your life?
The person that has inspired my life and who has helped me to grow as a person and to have a very different vision of life is my brother, his name is Jose Antonio Colon and he is 17 years old, he has a disease called hyperglycaemia non ketotic, he is always in bed because the disease affects his normal activities. My brother is an example of perseverance and love of life. Mahatma Ghandi said: Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will, and my brother is an example of that , he has inspired not only my life but also the life of many persons, and that is why I admire him a lot.

The region was led by cacique Agüeybana. He was one of the caciques that greeted Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de León when he came to the island in 1508. In 1692 Juan Ponce de León y Loayza (Juan Ponce de León's great-grandson) obtained a royal permit (cédula real) to formalize the founding of the hamlet.
As of 1815 a strong influx of immigrants from Europe came to the region, strengthening its economy and assuring its progress. Immigrants came from regions like Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and other regions of eastern Spain, as well as from the United Kingdom (one of Vanna White's ancestors was mayor of the city once), Germany and France. Also, wealthy Spaniards who fled from the independence revolts in Cuba, came to Ponce. Some of these immigrants made considerable fortunes in coffee, corn and sugarcane harvesting, rum production, banking and finance, the importing of industrial machinery, iron foundries and other enterprises.
At time of the American invasion of the Island, Ponce was the largest city in Puerto Rico[ At that time it also had the best capitalized financial institutions in the Island. Ponce also had its own currency.
Ponce Fair. Following trends set in Europe and elsewhere, in 1877, Don Miguel Rosich conceptualized an exposition fair for Ponce. It was held in the city in 1882, where several industrial and agricultural advancements were shown. "It is important to establish a relationship between the European exhibitions and the Ponce Fair, as the Fair was meant as a showcase of the advancements of the day: Agriculture, Trade, Industry, and the Arts. Just as with the 1878 World's Fair in Paris, the electric grid of the city of Ponce was inaugurated on the first day of the Ponce Fair. In this occasion the Plaza Las Delicias and various other buildings, including the Merchatile Union Building, the Ponce Casino, and some of Ponce's homes were illuminated with the incandescent light bulb for the first time".
In 1883, Ponce was ravaged by an enormous fire. The Parque de Bombas fire station in the central plaza has since become a museum and tourist attraction. The station continued serving the Ponce community until 1990, when it was closed and the building's activities were entirely dedicated to a museum, which is still open to the general public.
At the time of the U.S. occupation of Puerto Rico in 1898 the taking of Ponce by American troops was a critical turning point in the Puerto Rican campaign. For the first time the Americans held a major port to funnel large numbers of men and quantities of war material into the island." Ponce also had underwater telegraph putting the US forces on the island in direct communication with Washington.
Architecture
The Font-Ubides Residence, one of over 1,000 buidings making up the Ponce historic dictrict. During the 19th century, the city was witness to a flourishing architectural development. Architects like Francisco Valls, Manuel Víctor Domenech, Eduardo Salich, Blas Saliva Boucher, Agustín Camilo González, Alfredo Wiechers, Francisco Porrata Doria and Francisco Gardón Vega used a mixture of creole and neoclassic styles to give the city a unique look. This can be seen in the various structures located in the center of the city like the Teatro La Perla. To showcase its rich architectural heritage, the city has opened the Museum of Puerto Rican Architecture at the Wiechers-Villaronga residence. The Ponce City Hall has one of the most unusual histories of any city hall throughout the world. "Originally built in the 1840s as a public assembly hall, Ponce's current City Hall was a jail until the end of the 19th century. Current galleries were former cells, and executions were held in the courtyard. Four U.S. presidents spoke from the balcony - Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt and George Bush." It is registered with the National Register of
Historic Places
Many of the city's features (from house façades to street corners) are modeled on Barcelona's architecture, given the city's strong Catalonian heritage. The Serralles Castle, now a museum, receives 100,000 visitors a year. Due to its historical importance a significant number of buildings in Ponce are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Landmarks
The city has been christened as Museum City for its many quality museums. Downtown Ponce in particular features several museums and landmarks. Buildings around Ponce's main plaza include the Casa Alcaldía, the oldest colonial building in the city, dating to the 1840s, and the Armstrong-Poventud Residence, an example of the neoclassical architectural heritage of the island. Just north of downtown Ponce lies the Serrallés Castle and the Cruceta El Vigía, a 100-foot observation tower which overlooks the city.
In the city outskirts, is the Tibes Indigenous Ceremonial Center The center is the site of the oldest cemetery uncovered up to date in the Antilles. With some 200 skeletons unearthed from the year 300 AD it is considered the largest and the most important archaeological finding in the West Indies.
Music
Immigrants from Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and England came to Ponce to develop an international city that still maintains its rich Taíno and African heritage. Part of this are the influences of the Bomba and Plena rhythms. Ponce has also been the birthplace of several well-known singers and musicians. From opera singers like Antonio Paoli, who was renowned all around the world during the early 1900s, to contemporary singers like Ednita Nazario. Also, countless Salsa singers like Héctor Lavoe, Cheo Feliciano, and Ismael Quintana also come from the city. Dating back to 1858, Ponce's Carnival is the oldest in Puerto Rico, and acquired an international flavor for its 150th anniversary.[It is one of the oldest carnivals celebrated in the Western Hemisphere. It features various parades with masked characters representative of good and evil.
Arts
Museo de Arte de Ponce , founded in 1959 by fellow "ponceño" Luis A. Ferré. The museum was operated by Ferré until his death at the age of 99, and it is now under the direction of the Luis A. Ferré Foundation. Designed by Edward Durell Stone, renowned architect of Radio City Music Hall and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, MAP is accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM), and the only one that has received a design prize of honor from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). It houses the most extensive art collection in the Caribbean.
Ponce's love for the arts goes back to at least 1864 when the Teatro La Perla was built. Ponce is also the birthplace of artists like Miguel Pou, Horacio Castaing, and several others in the fields of painting, sculpture, and others. The City is one of only seven cities in the Western Hemisphere (the others being, Havana, Valparaiso, Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Rosario and Mexico City) in non-profit association for the promotion and protection of Art Nouveau heritage in the world.

Prejean Sex Tape Triggers Settlement
Posted Nov 4th 2009 5:00PM by TMZ Staff
Carrie Prejean demanded more than a million dollars during her settlement negotiations with Miss California USA Pageant officials -- that is, until the lawyer for the Pageant showed Carrie an XXX home video of her handiwork.
The video the lawyer showed Carrie is extremely graphic and has never been released publicly. We know that, because TMZ obtained the video months ago but decided not to post it because it was so racy. Let's just say, Carrie has a promising solo career.
We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to jettison her demand and essentially walk away with nothing. As we first reported, the Pageant is paying around $100,000 to her lawyers and publicist -- a fraction of her bills. She pockets nothing in the settlement.

REVIEW DE PRELIMINAR MPRU2010 -- THEVIEW, 14:31:03 11/01/09 Sun [23] (NoHost/24.138.239.29)
ZUKKA SANTIAGO
