Hi Barb. I just got a little info on my mother's side of the family. They were from Northern Ireland, and settled in NB. From there, I think they came straight to RI. Why? I have no idea. lol

They had Scottish last names (Crockett and Gunn), and called themselves Scots-Irish.

Do Canadians celebrate St. Patrick's Day like we do here, with green everything (beer, clothing, food, pins, hats, glasses, etc. music, dancing, and parades?

Joan

It was my mother's mother's family that was from NB. My mother's father's people were from Quebec. Montreal, I guess, but I'm not sure.

My father's parents were from Ireland--Irish Free State.

My roots are deeper in Ireland and Canada than they are in the U.S. :)

whether you like it or not! lol
You've got Eastern Canadian roots like me. Actually, I'm from Ontario so your roots are even more Eastern Canadian than my own. You ought to speak French like a trouper...and be able to recite "Anne of Green Gables" backwards! lol

Though I've been to Monreal and didn't like it. :)

I've got to get up there to the nicer places in CA. Bob and I have wanted to see PEI since we saw Anne of Green Gables. And now that I know for sure it was NB that my mother's family came from, I want to go there, too.

I'm glad to be an honorary Canadian. :)
