Subject: Re: God, heaven and hell - It's all about duality

But Roger it says in Isaiah 45:7 that God creates evil:

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

So doesn't that mean that God's will is in favor of evil?

Of course the answer is YES, just as the Bible clearly says with zero ambiguity.

Didn't God create the devil and doesn't God allow Satan to continue? And furthermore, doesn't it say in the N.T. that after Jesus returns the serpent will be set free again after the span of 1,000 years? In what way is God 'good' if He allows these things?

Just so we 'choose' between the two? Do children have a genuine ability to exercise their 'free will'? Just recently there was a news story about kindergardeners all chanting that Obama should be killed - was that truly their free will or were they possibly influenced by their racist community?

What about psychopaths? Or someone with a low IQ who's been tricked into joining a gang and committing crimes. I can think of numerous examples against the whole 'free will' belief.

But for so many Christians who've been tricked by the serpent, they cannot fathom that passage in Isaiah. It goes against what they've been 'told' to believe, so they claim that they cannot explain that part and it's not for them to understand.

Remember that the Bible says that the serpent will be so clever to almost fool even the Elect, and though you may never believe it, you too have been tricked by the greatest trickster ever known.

Thankfully the eastern religions spell it out for us - Good and Evil are two sides of the SAME coin (now replace 'coin' with 'God').

"Love and Hate are not opposite ends of the spectrum - they are one and the same thing" - u.g. Krishnamurti

From the Hsin Hsin Ming, by Seng T'san, the third Zen patriarch of China [d.606 AD]:

"The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. When love and hate are both absent everything becomes clear and undisguised. Make the smallest distinction however, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. If you wish to see the truth then hold no opinions for or against anything. To set up what you like against what you dislike is the disease of the mind."

As I've said before, our Fall came about when we learned about Good and Evil and then became 'like God'. Good and evil is another way of speaking about duality - the opposites, polarities. Polarities form a part of every aspect of our existence. Our planets all have two poles, our brains have two poles, our bodies have two sides.

We have day and night, up and down, love and hate. From Zen Master Seung Sahn:

"If you are attached to your thinking, then everything has name and form. This is the world of opposites."

Zen Master Mumon [1183-1260]:

"Three pounds of flax in front of your nose,
Close enough, and mind is still closer.
Whoever talks about affirmation and negation
Lives in the right and wrong region."

"An object of enjoyment that comes of itself is neither painful nor pleasurable for someone who has eliminated attachment, and who is free from dualism and from desire." [Ashtavakra Gita 3.14]

"...the true Renouncer, firm and fixed,
Who—seeking nought, rejecting nought—dwells proof
Against the "opposites"."

—Bhagavadgita
