Thanks Rana - personally everything you have written here is very much how I envision things.

I have felt for some time that our providence has been decided before we embark on this Earthly experience.

i.e. that we are in the hands of God's plan (aka fate or 'destiny' as Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi refers to it) and this destiny is to help us on our path back to God - in other words we are only given the experiences that will help us find enlightenment or 'God'.
