Reading the piece where Jamie explains who the Crooked Man is did make me wonder if it's not a personification of his depression, it's the darker part of himself which he sometimes simply cannot defend against and which in a strange way makes him whole -- the dark aspect to his light self which attracts animals etc. -- Cindy's Cottage
