During the previous two presidential terms, the US HAS been antagonistic to its European allies. But read the whole Obama speech. It comes down hard on European attitudes as well.

I've spent the last eight years being afraid not of the "dangerous" president, but the people who pulled his strings. And none of them spoke for me. And because of my sentiments, I was called an un-Christian, non-patriotic, baby-killing, terrorist-loving, gay-loving, marriage-hating, bleeding heart Liberal.

And these are quotes I have found on Obama's beliefs:
"Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition."

"Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation and a nation of nonbelievers," Obama proclaimed. "And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson's, or Al Sharpton's?"

Here is the quote I am refering to from a press conference in Turkey:

From the Huffington Post:
"At a press conference in Turkey, President Obama casually rebuked the old chestnut that the United States is a Judeo-Christian nation.

"One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."

I strongly resent that he thinks because he was elected President he thinks he has the power to redefine me and my country. He is not the King, you know. And I am not going to get worked up and pissed off again today. If you do not have a problem with his statements, fine, I do. He apologized all over Europe for a country that has supported them, at great cost in American lives and money, over and over again.

Do you actually feel safer now? You bring up the last eight years (as Obama does practically every five minutes, but that is another topic). I know you think GW was a puppet. I disagree and I certainly never called anyone all the things you said you were called. In fact, the reverse was true. Point is, that time is over. We need to concentrate on our future.

Yes, I think he is dangerous. If you don't well, good. You probably sleep better than I do. I do have a lot of respect for you though, and I appreciate your views.
