Subject: Regarding Obama's European trip...

I find it galling to apologize to Germany, who started two world wars and attempted to eradicate an entire religion my murdering millions of innocent Jews. All in the living memory of my grandparents. It's equally hard to apologize over our supposed causation of the economic problems to a continent that has spent the last half century free-riding on our defense dollars as they bankrupted themselves with the same unaffordable nanny-government liberal entitlements that Obama is now trying to bankrupt us with, while he simultaneously weakens our ability to defend ourselves, much less the undeserving Europeans. It's probably best if we don't go back another century or so to dissect the damage done by imperialistic European conquests of Africa and the Americas.

Back when we were liberating 25,000,000 oppressed Iraqis, the left had a bunch of web sites with pictures of people holding signs that said "Not in MY name." I feel the same way about Obama's apologies. He does NOT speak for me.

his latest mea culpa regarding how we are not a Christian or a Jewish nation really got to me. Maybe his teleprompter should read some of our founding documents. Nice Holy Week speech, there, BO. Not to mention YES WE CAN get rid of our nuclear weapons. Our enemies must be laughing their asses off. And the left called Dubya dumb.

I absolutely agree - he DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ME. This man is very dangerous.

Just have to keep in mind that 3 years and 7 months is not forever (I hope) and it took a Carter to make a Reagan.

to make it mean something else...where are you getting this "information"? Words such as "apology", "sorry" or "not a Christian nation" were never uttered...
:-))) LOL

and I am not going to Google anything for you. If you are unaware of Obama's comments, turn on something other than MSNBC. You seem to enjoy coming on here and fucking with people, such as your post below about a book that isn't biased at all! Really! LOL!!!!! Well, okay. Have fun. Just don't fall for the meme that all conservatives are stupid, ok?

Start thinking for yourself, instead of parroting commentators who intentionally repeat disinformation.

...Deb got the direct quotes, so it proves my point...yet, once again...

During the previous two presidential terms, the US HAS been antagonistic to its European allies. But read the whole Obama speech. It comes down hard on European attitudes as well.

I've spent the last eight years being afraid not of the "dangerous" president, but the people who pulled his strings. And none of them spoke for me. And because of my sentiments, I was called an un-Christian, non-patriotic, baby-killing, terrorist-loving, gay-loving, marriage-hating, bleeding heart Liberal.

And these are quotes I have found on Obama's beliefs:
"Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition."

"Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation and a nation of nonbelievers," Obama proclaimed. "And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson's, or Al Sharpton's?"

[> [> No matter what he claimed during his campaign, that is not what he is telling Europe -- Jeannine, 11:03:01 04/08/09 Wed [1]

Here is the quote I am refering to from a press conference in Turkey:

From the Huffington Post:
"At a press conference in Turkey, President Obama casually rebuked the old chestnut that the United States is a Judeo-Christian nation.

"One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."

I strongly resent that he thinks because he was elected President he thinks he has the power to redefine me and my country. He is not the King, you know. And I am not going to get worked up and pissed off again today. If you do not have a problem with his statements, fine, I do. He apologized all over Europe for a country that has supported them, at great cost in American lives and money, over and over again.

Do you actually feel safer now? You bring up the last eight years (as Obama does practically every five minutes, but that is another topic). I know you think GW was a puppet. I disagree and I certainly never called anyone all the things you said you were called. In fact, the reverse was true. Point is, that time is over. We need to concentrate on our future.

Yes, I think he is dangerous. If you don't well, good. You probably sleep better than I do. I do have a lot of respect for you though, and I appreciate your views.

[> I am also referring to recent comments -- DizzyDeb, 12:05:46 04/08/09 Wed [1]

And the comments you quoted about religion seems very American to me. We are a diverse nation, founded for the practice of the religion of our choice. Why is it threatening to you not to be solely called a Christian nation?

And the "apology" speech also takes European countries to task for their recent attitudes toward America. I was of the opinion that it was a reaching-out to build better relations in the future.

I don't sleep all the good right now, thanks. My own personal problems keep me awake. But I do feel more confident in the government right now. Not in all of it, by any means, and not even with everything the President is in favor of. I certainly don't have rose-colored glasses on or a constant warm fuzzy feeling, but I'm more optimistic.

And I also respect your opinions. I do enjoy reading responses from others who do not share my beliefs. That's part of what I love about America.

[> [> Thanks Deb -- Jeannine, 13:25:43 04/08/09 Wed [1]

and we can agree to disagree. I do respect your opinion, but what offends me is the declaration that we are not a religious nation. We are. We were founded on Judeo-Christian principles. To go to Europe and deny that is pandering to those who do not have our best interests at heart. For all of his apologies, he accomplished nothing. Please keep in my that the is MY OPINION only. I know it will not be resolved here, so I guess dropping it is the best thing. I am very glad to have a place to vent my opinions, and someone to discuss them with.
