Subject: How were your local elections?

We need a new sheriff, we're not getting one. Deltona needs our own police department, we are not getting one. 90,000 people in this town and the majority decided it is better to pay the county sheriff nearly 10million a year instead of spending a little more than 8 million to start our own police department. Bunch of dopes.

And in case the four other laws preventing gay people from getting married in this state, we now have five. You know, just in case some gay people managed to find four loopholes and get married anyway.

But on the flip side my uncle's plan to vote out the incumbents seems to have worked. Tom Feeney and Ric Keller are both out. Woohoo!

As of about 1:30 a.m., it was a dead tie between Al Franken and Norm Coleman. They're doing a recount.

It sure was nice to drive to Curves this morning in an almost-sign-free city! And I can't tell you how happy I am that we're done with those d@mn tv ads.

They were mostly down in my neighborhood, but still up everywhere else on my way to work.

And now on the radio they're calling Coleman the winner of the senate race by the narrowest of margins, with a recount "likely". I think it's automatic when it's that close (6000 votes in this case).

[> Not looking really good for No on Prop 8 here in CA -- SFGirl Jan, 05:21:55 11/05/08 Wed [1]

...if this sucker passes, I will be so ashamed to call myself a Californian. There's a 300,000 difference in votes right now, with 91% of the precincts reporting.

I feel your pain, Terry.

my joy for Obama. It truly is a shame. But I don't consider that fight over. There are goihg to be more court challenges and this topic will be with us for a long time until they get it right.

[> Amendment 2... -- SB, 06:26:28 11/05/08 Wed [1]

reaching 60% was my one big disappointment (that and Michelle Bachmann's reelection). While listening to Obama's great speech where he mentioned equality for all people and mentioned the gay community specifically, I felt we were 2 steps forward and one back.

[> Arkansas voted down gay couples being able to foster children -- jayjay, 07:22:22 11/05/08 Wed [1]

i am so ashamed. this chaps my hide.

adopt and have arrangements with surrogates, the parents just can't be married to each other. So not letting gay/lesbian couples with children marry protects hetero families. But not letting gay/lesbian couples marry hurts the children of those couples. It boggles the mind.

Looks like your fine state was one of very few to vote even MORE Republican this year than it did in 2004. Tennessee is close, and so is Oklahoma, but I think Arkansas takes the cake. I have to believe a lot of that is racism, because really, why would you be MORE conservative after 4 years like the past 4 have been?
