Subject: Congratulations President Obama!

What an amazing and inspirational evening. Watching people in Chicago and elsewhere, even the news coverage, it was really moving. So much could have dampened it, like violence, etc, but everyone seemed to step up and realize what an important moment it was.

And while the historic moment is amazing, I am just pleased that your country is being governed by a smart and principled man (no matter the colour of his skin). I hope he surrounds himself with the right people too. I feel hopeful. And worried, not by what he will do but by what others might do.

I too was very moved by McCain's speech. Apparently Palin wanted to speak but the head of his campaign vetoed it, and I think it was the right thing to do.

Really hope things go well for everyone. There are still a lot of people who hate the Obamas but so many people voted that maybe that will be the positive groundswell to carry this mood in the country forward.

and I was inspired by each. Class acts, both men.

The outcome wasn't what I'd hoped for, but I am optimistic and eagerly looking forward to what Obama will do for this country. I sincerely hope that we can pull together now and get this country back on track.
